Jan 3, 2008 - Really beautiful performance, and I'm very grateful for being able to see this, as I'm trying to learn it myself, but I have question. Aren't you playing this a little fast? I think back to the first time that I heard it (the Song of the Guitar Video - Andrés Segovia) and he definitely played it a lot slower. Somehow I like the slower speed. This is not a criticism, just a genuine observation.

Jan 12, 2008 - i believe the original tempo marking is actually allegretto. but a lot of people take it a lot slower. if there's good musical reasonings behind it, there's no stopping you from playing at different tempos. this is spanish nationalistic repartoire from the 19th century--expressing human elements/emotions is one of the main aspects that characterizes the era.. so if you feel the music best when played slower, you should go for it (but not because segovia played so...)

Jan 14, 2008 - I totally agree about going at the speed that you "feel" with this kind of music. I am a HUGE fan of Segovia, but I don't try to play things like him "just because he did". I play in the way that "I" personally feel comfortable and which produces the most beautiful sound that I can. In the case of this piece, I would/and will take it slower. My reason for this? I feel it CAN tend to sound a little rushed if played too quickly, beautiful as the performance and tone are.

Feb 2, 2008 - Very beautifully played Andrea. I'm currently learning it also. I got the Michael Lorimer arrangement but the fingering is different. I prefer the arrangement you are doing so I'm changing the fingering. Do you perform in the US? I would love to come to one of your concerts.

Mar 3, 2008 - some spots of this can be taken more slowly without "losing it"........ this also is lovely on the piano..

Apr 9, 2008 - Very beautiful piece...however more of the melody and feel comes out when it is played at a slow and savouring tempo...but still an excellent choice of music...thank you...

Oct 30, 2008 - Thank you for this beautiful music, but I must say I prefer this piece when it is played slower! Segovia does it like that and this gives a more relaxed atmosphere.

Jul 18, 2009 - yeah I like it when played slower as well like Segovia or Reussner's renditions. One of my favorite classical melodies for guitar.
