shechshire Says:
Oct 18, 2009 - You can also do a wrist lock because his arm is isolated.
XxexcelcierxX Says:
Oct 18, 2009 - hmm im an amateur mma fighter who is experimenting with jiu jitsu techniques, and i was wondering if you were to use this in the streets and did not let your opponent submit, would it make them black out, suffocate, or break their neck?
jakeman367 Says:
Oct 18, 2009 - It would make them black out.
snowshark84 Says:
Oct 20, 2009 - I call bullshit on you being an amateur fighter if you didn't know this would make you black out, that is first week training knowledge. It's called a triangle CHOKE! So yes, black out and then die if you did not let go at all.
snowshark84 Says:
Oct 20, 2009 - Not entirely screwed, there are no arm triangles though they are a much lower percentage move. What you do is tighten the triangle by squeezing your legs together (as per normal triangle), for a brief second loosen one side and slide your fist in against his neck, immediately tighten again and press your fist into his carotid. It's effective enough of the time to catch people, but not effective enough to really bother to go after unless you sort of end up in it.
XxexcelcierxX Says:
Oct 20, 2009 - ha you got me.... actually for most of my fighting career ive only practiced chinese martial arts and fought against other striking arts like boxing or muy thai. I recently found an mma instructor who has began to teach me how to defend against jui jitsu techniques and ive found them very useful to use when someone takes me to the ground. i would just like to know what would happen if i did it on the street and didnt release it
snowshark84 Says:
Oct 20, 2009 - The person would pass out, if you still didn't let go then the person would die after a little while longer, don't quote me but I think its roughly 10-15 seconds to kill someone with it. That's why refs look so closely at a person in a choke, if they go out and the ref doesn't stop it then there can be some bad affects, even death.
Sirkrass Says:
Oct 20, 2009 - it actually takes a couple of minutes to die from a blood choke, a little more than 30 seconds after he passed out and some brain damage can happen
snowshark84 Says:
Oct 22, 2009 - I'd heard much less time than that, but I don't have a 100% credible source so you may very well be right. I do know that if the person hasn't regained consciousness after 30 seconds then something could be very wrong, you'll notice ring doctors working more frantically in that case.
nizepart0519 Says:
Oct 24, 2009 - tap out or black out. its not breaking neck nor suffocating your enemy, its a technique to seal off the blood flow to the brain on both sides of the neck. if applied properly, the arteries on the both sides of the neck sealed off. the opponent will be force to tap out or pass out within the matter of seconds.
MikeAKATheBoss Says:
Oct 25, 2009 - They fall asleep bro
MikeAKATheBoss Says:
Oct 25, 2009 - Woww. You just said what XxexcelcierxX was bullshit and then you say that a person will die in 10 seconds from a triangle choke? Facepalm bro. Facepalm. You should have your comment-posting-privileges taken away.
snowshark84 Says:
Oct 26, 2009 - Look up how long it takes to die from a choke, it's not in the minutes, it's less than a minute from what I've heard and read. The person will lose vital signs and have to be revived, very simple to do but hey, shit can happen. How about you get someone to try it on you, once the choke is fully set in, and I mean you not resisting or struggling. Have them choke you out and hold for an additional 10-15 seconds, I guarantee if you do wake up you will be doing so very very slowly.
xKeepThisSecretx Says:
Oct 26, 2009 - im pretty sure it's around 10-15 seconds for the black-out, if they don't tap they nap. and if it goes un-checked a nice strong hold for 30-60 seconds, can end with devastating results, ie brain function loss, death ;) that is if you can lock it in correctly.
ErickArmanii Says:
Oct 26, 2009 - i got tapped out in a matter of seconds today.. no joke 4-5 seconds started to see black and i had to sit out for a few mins cause i almost blacked out.. it all depends on how tight you get the lock..
UFClova Says:
Nov 6, 2009 - dammit i wish my last name was gracie
RoNtTi537 Says:
Nov 6, 2009 - takes only 5-6 seconds to feint if the choke is tight, when your brain really stops getting blood pumped in, But i don't want to find out how long will it take to get to those brain function loss, death etc results...
daz45 Says:
Nov 7, 2009 - don't pull your foot unless you wanna pop your knee, to make it tighter, hold your shin and put your foot on his hips and push making it tighter. Also remeber to pull the arm across.
dillonwadhams Says:
Nov 12, 2009 - dude this guy did it all wrong his foot is flat hes gonna brake his foot and he needs to pull his shin not foot and also if his foot was vertical with the floor not parallel then it wouldve been three times tighter but hey thats just me undisputed in el cajon come join
patio87 Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - "im pretty sure it's around 10-15 seconds for the black-out," AHAHA WOW if it takes someone 10-15 seconds to make someone pass out from a triangle they might as well shove their monthly judo/jujitsu dues straight up their ass because they suck and so does whoever taught them.
bhunter66 Says:
Nov 25, 2009 - didnt anderson silva have travis lutter in a really tight triangle choke for atleast a full minute when they fought
