Oct 13, 2009 - Yeah, Frank O"Hara wrote it on his lunch break the day that he found out Billie Holiday had passed away... in it he remembers the last time that he saw her perform at the 5 spot... to me it is an elegy from an artist of one art form to an artist of another, showing the importance of truly experiencing artistic expression whether it be poetry or music

Oct 16, 2009 - I have played piano, keyboard, and organ for 28 years and I love the way that old school musicians "feel" the music and let that feeling guide them. Sometimes, with young cats, I think that they get so caught up in phat chords and runs that they don't feel the music anymore. These guys expressed their emotion through their playing and the audience felt it. We need that level of musicianship again.

Nov 19, 2009 - She was high for sure, but everyone was using that those days. Herion and Jazz muscians were peas in a POD. GREAT MUSIC, and a GREAT voice. A distinct voice, not like all these new signers. THEY SUCKS

Nov 20, 2009 - Lester's solo here has to be the most beautiful solo I've ever heard. Prez could say more with one chorus than most sax players could say with 20. Lester was the man who inspired me to pick up the horn four years ago. I had always wanted to play sax, but I thought that since I was 22 it was too late for me to start. Then I heard Lester and that was it! Bought my first horn a week later and been playing ever since.
