Nov 16, 2009 - And in the case of Stephen Fry, he's just utterly self-absorbed. He should wake up and realise that there are people with REAL mental disabilities in the world. I have an autistic brother and it pisses me off to see people like Stephen Fry revel in their own self-pity like this when there are people with genuine problems. Bipolar may or may not be a bona fide condition, but in Stephen Fry's case he just needs a good slap in the face.
dingbatcharlie1 Says:
Nov 16, 2009 - don't you read the news?
mossytreehead Says:
Nov 16, 2009 - yes, and if youre talking about Stephen fry hes not dead.
DutchDeath75 Says:
Nov 16, 2009 - You're pathetic. Bipolarity is a serious mental illness and outside of your tiny mind it's considered bona fide. Stephen Fry is just helping with awareness about it and is being very honest about how it affects him.
cubeloid Says:
Nov 16, 2009 - melatonin at night to sleep has pretty much cured me. good luck.
BremenWalle Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - Well, I think you're pathetic. It's a matter of opinion what you make of bipolar sufferers, but in my opinion Stephen Fry is a malingering attention seeker and he annoys me intensely. He should take his lithium (which he refuses to do, so he can't suffer from Bipolar that badly, otherwise it would be necessary for the sake of others) and get on with life and realise that there are people far worse off them him.
DutchDeath75 Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - I work in a psychiatric hospital, I don't know how many bipolar people you have met in their hardest times, but I can tell you it's pretty bad. Stephen Fry is an attention seeker, just like every other human being on this planet. Some, like Stephen, are very good at this and become celebrities. Others, like us, have to settle with writing comments on youtube videos. Btw, where in this documentary does he claim bipolars are worst off compared to everyone?
BremenWalle Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - I actually think Stephen Fry is a complete coward for running away because of one bad review. I wish I could run away from my obligations sometimes but the fact is, I am not able to otherwise I probably wouldn't have a roof to sleep under. If Stephen Fry had been born into a tough working-class family in the East End of London he might not have the luxury of being able to have depressive or manic episodes.
DutchDeath75 Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - If my aunt would have had a penis, she'd have been my uncle. Are you implying only rich people are bipolar? I can tell you that's wrong from experience. Just like every other mental illness all walks of life are affected.
BremenWalle Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - No, but they wouldn't revel in being bipolar if they had the condition, they would just take lithium and FUCKING DEAL WITH IT! The guy should learn some humility and selflessness by doing hard labour or military service for a year, make him snap out of this wholly self-absorbed mindset.
DutchDeath75 Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - Actually, a lot of them don't just take lithium and deal with it. A lot of them struggle with it for a long time and some take their own lives. Stephen Fry is using his celebrity status to inform us about bipolarity and he's done a good job with this interesting documentary. Humility and selflessness? By hard labour or military service? So ignoring your talents for a year and stop thinking are good things according to you?
BremenWalle Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - Yes, sacrifice is a good thing.
DutchDeath75 Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - How?
BremenWalle Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - I'm not going to waste my time explaining this to you, so here's a few quotes: Self-sacrifice is the real miracle out of which all the reported miracles grow - Ralph Waldo Emerson The important thing is this: to be able, at any moment, to sacrifice what we are for what we could become. - Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Plus a plethora of others.
DutchDeath75 Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - Nice quotes. Now you need to explain how these wonderfull quotes relate to Stephen Fry joining the army for a year. Because that's not what these people are saying and you know that. So, explain. Come on, waste your time on me.
BremenWalle Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - Because Stephen Fry has genuinely hurt people in his time and caused them huge distress by his running away like a complete twat. He should relinquish the delusional notion he holds of being a temperamental genius for the sake of his sister, who has herself given her life up for the sake of Stephen's. I'd rather not waste any more time on you so don't expect another response.
DutchDeath75 Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - So this is what it was about the whole time. No more fancy quotes, no more questioning the validity of bipolar disorder. Just a personal grudge towards Stephen Fry. You strike me as the kind of person that likes to thrash anyone who sticks his head above the grain. I think you should relinquish the delusional notion you hold of being superior to me and thinking discussing with me is a waste of your time. :-p
BremenWalle Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - You've completely got the wrong end of the stick there i.e. you've misinterpreted the situation intentionally to try to get one over me. I don't think I'm superior to anyone, you've extrapolated wrongly there (again). Anyway, I have to go to bathe and dress my autistic brother as he is unable to do so himself, that's the reason I don't have time to speak to you and that's one of the reasons why I passionately resent Stephen Fry's self-indulgence.
BremenWalle Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - I'm not especially into one-upmanship so I think we can consider this case closed. I appreciate the debate and I respect your opinion in the spirit of fairness. Peace.
DutchDeath75 Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - I knew I was extrapolating (is that a word?) wrong, it was supposed to be a joke. I'm just trying to make my point clear to you. My point is that mr. Fry is probably very aware there are people who have it worse then him, he's a pretty smart guy. He's just making people aware of his condition, also on behalf of all the people who suffer from it too. Good luck with your brother btw.
BremenWalle Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - Thanks, I appreciate it.
