Sep 25, 2009 - yea it was confirmed. Kinkel dragged his mother's body from the bottom of the stairs, into the garage and dragged his father into the bathroom, where he locked the door. He placed a white sheet over each of the bodies. During the night he also played the song "Liebestod" from the soundtrack of Romeo + Juliet repeatedly. It was still playing when the police arrived.

Oct 23, 2009 - How she can hold that final note so perfectly in such a formal setting as a conbcert performance- its just shere magic. What a talent. Just listened to Kirsten and raved, but I really think Birgit was the best.
Operanut9 Says:
Oct 24, 2009 - bachlover, You are so right. I find Flagstad cold compared to Nilsson. Nilsson had dramatic thrust and a true feeling for everything she ever did. Even so, Flagstad is still quite wonderful, but Nilsson was a miracle not to be superseded.

Nov 2, 2009 - This scene is from a swedish television concerto, just a few years before she recorded the legendary deutsche....live from bayreuth 1966....it is true that Flagstad was amazing and she had a very clear, beautiful voice, but flagstad could never produce the glittering heights and breathtaking power and controll that nilsson possesed. I think that you could compare her to gods hands on earth, a divine vision that the world never will see again. the world are still waiting for her succesor..
Operanut9 Says:
Nov 4, 2009 - Lanilsson, Your observations are spot on. To that I would add, that although Flagstad is totally glorious, I find a warmth, a commitment to the music in Nilsson, that I do not find in Flagstad. I think the difference is shown by their attitudes toward music. Flagstad is reported to have thrown several of her recordings in a lake somewhere. Thank goodness they were retrieved later. Nilsson loved music and served it with devotion, always putting music above her own self.
