Oct 24, 2009 - Agreed. I'm American and it pains me to watch "our" version of the show. And it's become so popular I feel guilty that the UK version still does not get the respect it deserves here. The US version tried to be somewhat true to the UK version in it's first season but then the wheels came off. I think it actually got worse when it tried to become it's own show and lose it's identity from the UK version. It became a soap opera.

Oct 28, 2009 - I used to hate on the american version of the Office, but now it's quite funny. If you watch it as if it was a normal american "sitcom", it is actually much better than those. It's just a different show. If you try to imagine that Dwight = Gareth etc, it just becomes sad.

Nov 17, 2009 - I wonder what people who are only seeing this clip from the show think about it. It's so much sadder in the context of the entire episode, series, and even the character of David Brent. We see how desperate he is to show everyone that he's as cool as Neil. And everytime he tries, he just looks pathetic, like when he showed up to the office with the same exact jacket that Neil was wearing. It's hilarious and sad, which is why I prefer the original to the American version.
