The 1930s cartoons were censored to hell by 1930s Hays Code censors. While they didn't object to violence the way they would today (Donald firing a gun was OK), they went after swearing like maniacs. They wouldn't have let Donald really cuss, hard as he may be to understand.

Oct 6, 2009 - Disney made the first color cartoon (Flowers and Trees, using the Technicolor process) in 1932, and most studios were phasing out their black and white shorts not too long after that to follow suit. That being said, this cartoon was probably originally released in color.

Nov 3, 2009 - Yeah, it strikes me that there are a lot of orphaned mice. I believe that essentially the same design was used for Mickey's nephews in the cartoon "Mickey's Steamroller". Their names are Morty and Ferdie Fieldmouse in the old Mickey Mouse comic strips.
