In Sweden, the state church has 7 mil. members (i.e. 72.9% of pop) and is the largest Lutheran church in the world. In Norway, 80.7% are members and in addition, the "Christian Democratic Party" plays a large role in politics. I won't say "for" or "against" for anything in this debate - i just wanted to correct you

The vast majority of these people do NOT attend these churches, and the majority of people in all three countries do not believe in any gods - Thor, Odin, Yahweh, or others. As for your "majority": 31% of Danish citizens responded that "they believe there is a god", whereas 49% answered that "they believe there is some sort of spirit or life force" and 19% that "they do not believe there is any sort of spirit, god, or life force" (Eurobarometer pool 2005) It takes less than 5 minutes to quit your membership from the church, and you save money by doing so.
