I take issue with those stating their personal god is real, tangible and they know which is his best selling book of things you should and should not do. Also the big bang is not a theory of nothing exploding. Its a bit of misnomer.

The fact that serious astrophysics can be misunderstood so thoroughly and frequently is vexing. And with respect, it matters to some people because it's interesting. Your enjoyment may not rely on learning new things about the cosmos and that's fine, but many others do derive enjoyment from that.

Oct 10, 2009 - Hey . I know this is an old post but just for anyone reading this . The "Big bang theory" does not state that nothing exploded. In fact the term "big bang" term was coined by skeptics to the theory. It actually states that the universe expanded from a singularity. There was no explosion or fire and in fact matter only formed once the universe was cool enough for atoms to form. This expansion is proven. What caused it is unknown.

Well the same mathmatic principles that produced computation that you are benefitting from right now as you browse the web, are used in quantum mechanics and big bang theory as well as string theory. The only people who dont use it or dont benefit from it are people who are ignorant and uneducated..
