Nov 20, 2009 - A native American said that calling them Indians it's the same as you would call an African American an nigger, because the word Indian was given by the European slaveholders, and I also learned that the native Americans migrated from Mongolia, Asia, it may not had a name, but they come from that region witch we now call asia, although this is what I learned I'm not 100% sure, I have great compassion for the wise and disgrace for the ignorance, I apologies for what my people did to your people

JayChouKaijuMaster Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - you are correct but they came from siberia they hate the term "indian"

SilverGunZoO Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - That's what I learned, that they came from Asia, crossing Bering Strait, Alaska, Siberia etc. The black and straight hair with hard texture, in Japanese is called katai (硬い) or "hard", it's hard and thick, feels almost like a horse hair, this hair type is only found on Asians, also the black eyes, the skin tones and the futures of the face, these futures are mostly in Asians, so that's is why I believe they come from Asia as I learned, but of course I'm not 100% sure, peace

katydidscorner Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - No, we no longer hate the term Indian. We have embraced it, and that is what we are. We prefer American Indian to Native American. Columbus gave that name to us because he was lost and thought he was in East Indies. The country India in 1492 was called Hindustan. Calling us Indian is only derogatory if it proceeds words such as "dirty" Indian or squaw Indian. Injun in derogatory. and insulting, but not American Indian. Read some of the links or wikipedia on the term American Indian.

katydidscorner Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - Well Asia is a big continent. Due to the 14,000 year difference, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc. have very few similarities of indigenous people of the Americans, except for the Inuit of Canada and Eskimos of Alaska. Can't judge by type of hair or color of eyes. My grandmother had black silky hair. Did you ever see "Wind in His Hair" from Dances with Wolves? American Indian eyes have a downward slant rather than an upward slant to them as Asians of today. 14,000 years changes quite a lot

katydidscorner Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - According to DNA tests, indigenous of Americas share more DNA markers with Turks than with any Asian people, other than those from the region of Siberia and Mongolia. I'm not trying to argue, just want to point out what we've learned because history books are incorrect or mostly lies. We did come from the "region" of Asia as did more than 1/3 or world population, but that long ago Asia was just a land mass that had no name until civilization of mankind 3 to 4 thousand years ago.

SilverGunZoO Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - Indeed what I learned might not be very accurate, m apologies, but wherever your people came from, they sure are one of the richest nations in moral and cultural values I ever heard of, and that's what matters the most, my respect and compassion.

youngsaint2009 Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - So what you are saying is that natives and indians arent related? in school i was taught that natives are indians that cross the beringia strait. i always noticed that indians had different features and were much darker

katydidscorner Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - I thank you. And, as I said, I'm not trying to argue. I just try to point out that some of the things people have read or heard about Indians aren't necessarily true. While a few may prefer to be called Native American, most prefer to be called by their tribal names, and if generalizing, most of us prefer American Indian to Native American because white men trying to be politically correct decided to use that term, the Indians didn't. Even now, there is still debate about what is correct.

Nov 21, 2009 - Nice Song

SilverGunZoO Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - We must honor all cultures, and respect people for their ancestors as well as human beings, many white people did not respected this at all, they used atomic bombs, they stole from iraq, they killed your people, enslaved Africans etc. I hope all that done such things to pay for their deeds

Nov 21, 2009 - THIS is what I can tell you. I was always hanging on the Rez with my friends. I was born Native and adopted by whites. The difference in the two cultures is definate. My rez friends were crazy...I liked that. Still do. Could laugh about everything and anything. Still do. However their lives are at times so tradgic due to liqour. They are their own people, and I love hanging with em every chance I get! So wipe away the tears, and laugh. Tomorrow is just another adventure!

nandiikasousa Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - everything indian is truly beautiful

CatzLV Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - Why? Because is obscure and uncommon? One should experience something, put ones curiosity to the test before making statements like that. Everything has its light and colour, but also its shadow and darkness. There can be no shape any other way.

nandiikasousa Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - i never thought about obscurity O_O..it's something that calls my attention, the music, the people..i can't explain, it's complicated to say and to write..and my english is very poor XD

katydidscorner Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - What in your opinion is not beautiful about Indian culture or their conservative use, treatment, and thankfulness of every little thing in nature, including nonliving things? Mountains are sacred as the waters, air, ground which others blow up. When making tools, they used every bit of the rock pieces for something, not even wasting that source. Every single bit of an animal was used for somethig. Nothing was wasted or taken for granted. People closest in comparison are from Tibet. region.
