Nov 21, 2009 - Thumbs Down. Tarantino is awesome.

pjjolly1 Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - I like fight club a lot as well, but I think it was interesting because of the story. I don't know that the movie brought anything new to the story.

pjjolly1 Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - Jackie Brown is a good example of a movie adding to a story. It started with a good story (based an Elmore Leonard book) but what was really interesting was the way that story was told; as an homage to blaxsploitation films. That homage is key to the enntertainment value of the movie and it was nowhere to be found in the book. Good movies take good stories and make them better. Another example is Goodfellas. The book is good, but Joe Pesci's performance adds a whole other dimension to the story.

Nov 23, 2009 - friday is the modern day version of rio bravo.

HuellsJewels Says:

Nov 23, 2009 - Yeah, people hate Lost In Translation. But it says something if Tarantino likes it, despite a total lack of action. Or maybe Quentin is just an Asia-phile? Regardless, I don't understand the hate for the movie. Yes, it's a shallow naval-gazing outsider's view of Tokyo. The city is a prop in the movie. Why isn't that OK? Every movie set in Japan need not be a long-winded lecture about their culture. It was more Harold Maude (which was great) than The Last Samurai (which blew hard).

Beshimi Says:

Nov 23, 2009 - Battle Royale is good, but the manga makes it look like Winnie the fucking Pooh.
