Oct 14, 2009 - Zevon was an asshole to many, no doubt (for various reasons, some if which may have been out of his control), but the music he made was pretty much always a cut above the norm. His lyrics often made no sense (Mohammed's Radio), but they didnt have to, because the tunes were great and his singing voice unique. As an aside, I wonder what would have happened to Warren if he had released Mohammed's Radio in 2003, and not 1974 or so? Im sure the radicals would have gone after him, no?

Oct 15, 2009 - IIRC the inspiration for this was a mercenary who owned a bar in Spain that Warren frequented. Warren spent a happy few months in Spain (i think to dry out a bit and get back in the music game in L.A.).
