Nov 17, 2009 - Greatest football player of all time. He was on a crap-o-la team the majority of his career, opposing defenses knew he would be coming at them, and still they couldn't stop him. What a sensational talent and gentleman!

Nov 21, 2009 - Mike Ditka should never be forgiven for not giving Payton the ball in the Superr Bowl to acore on that dive play that he gave to the Fridge. Pitka could remember to give it to Payton hundreds of times when Payton was carrying that team to the Super Bowl. Then Ditka forgets once the game is won and it was garbage time. Bullshi
tonysweetness34 Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - Agreed but there were 9-10 patriots KEYed on walter whole game.. others were WIDE open (as a credit to walter's effect). Walter only cared about winning and being part of his team.

Nov 22, 2009 - Not only a gentleman but the best RB that has ever set foot on a football field at anytime in anywere ever. The backs in the NFL today need to learn something from how Walter Payton lived his life. Peace, Love, and Respect

Nov 25, 2009 - "Mike Ditka should never be forgiven for not giving Payton the ball in the Superr Bowl to acore on that dive play that he gave to the Fridge." Who cares? That was the only problem i ever had with Walter is that he was bothered by that. He was actually walking off the field pissed after his team won a super bowl. Yeah he deserved the ball but it's not a mortal sin.
jdlund Says:
Nov 25, 2009 - I'm guessing you didn't actually watch the game. If you did you would know why Ditka gave it to Fridge. The entire Patriots D was focussed exclusively on Payton. His longest run of the game was seven yards. Ditka did remember to give it to Payton near the goal line, several times. Three times within the Pats five even, and he got two gains of 1 and a loss of 2. The Pats D kept him from punching it in pure and simple. Ditka gave it to Fridge because he knew it would work. And it did.
