HeavyMechanics Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - there are clearly benefits to homeopathy and good nutrition. many of today's modern pharmaceuticals come from plant oils and natural substances. eating tons of fat and fried foods does result in poorer health. it's too bad people have such a black and white, right and wrong perspective these days.

hadr0n Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - Homeopathy doesn't work.

HeavyMechanics Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - it depends what you're using it for. don't you realize that a lot of prescription medications, i.e., the pills that big pharma sells you, are just reproductions of, for example, a certain plant in from the rain forests? homeopathy in many cases is just using things that naturally occur in nature for their healing properties. there are many cases where that works just fine. tea tree oil is one of many examples. it's used in lots of over-the-counter pharmaceuticals.

hadr0n Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - You're confusing homeopathy with herbology! Homeopathy DOES NOT WORK. It has been tested and proven NOT to work. The fundamental principles pf homeopathy go against everthing we've known about biology, physics and chemistry for over 60 years. Your fallacious straw man arguments take nothing away from the fact that IT'S JUST FUCKING WATER! :)

tjockisgurra Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - Yes, as Dara so eloquentally put it; for thousands of years we had herbal medicine, then science came along and tested it, the stuff that worked bekame MEDICIN. "Big Pharma" as you call them want to produce drugs that work, so that they can sell them and make money. But!, and this is a big BUT, they actually have to show that the drug is effective and safe, unlike homeopathy quacks. Real homeopathy is WATER, it does not work.

chrisdevis68 Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - Heavy - it sounds to me like you don't understand what homeopathy is and that you are talking about herbal/natural remedies, which I agree can have real valuable properties. Hpaty is based on 2 crackpot theories: like cures like, and diluting a solution will make it stronger! They repeatedly dilute a substance which they claim could cause the same symptoms that the patient has, until they are left with water that has a "memory" of the substance that it once contained in solution. BS. Placebo.

garvan Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - "Chiropractrory" or chiropractics, is a load of nonsense, he says! Ah, i knew he was a bit of an eejit, now.

HeavyMechanics Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - Ah you are correct I probably have my terminology mixed up, apologies, and thanks for the course correction. I've always been afraid to go to chiropractors, acupuncturists and the like for fear of quackery.

HeavyMechanics Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - Pardon my ignorance, you are correct, I am confusing the two terms, apologies. I agree with you.

hadr0n Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - not a problem. :)

KemaTheAtheist Says:

Nov 23, 2009 - Chiropractors *are* a load of bullshit, garvan. They believe everything that goes wrong in the human body is caused by energy problems of a misalligned spine... that includes colds, the flu, cancer, etc. That is bullshit. And, cracking your spine to make it better is stupid. People have died or become paralyzed because the "doctor" cracked their spine and severed the spinal cord. Chiropracty is right up there with acupuncture, homoeopathy, and faith healing.

KemaTheAtheist Says:

Nov 23, 2009 - Homeopathy is a black/white issue because it's water. There are no herbs, minerals, vitamins, or anything else in it. It is fucking water. The only benefit from homeopathy is a placebo effect, and that doesn't help if you have cancer... it will delay treatment, possibly past the point real doctors even have a chance to save you. I agree with what you said about good nutrition and cutting some fats and oils from your diet though. Exercise doesn't hurt either.

guidav123 Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - you forget to mention the energetic charge that homeopathy works on.

guidav123 Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - nothing can cure you but you. real health care only assist in getting your body to a place of peak performance so it can heal itself successfully. this does not include pumping your body full of unnatural toxic chemicals that build up over time blocking oxygen to the cells and other problems. mainstream medicin is such a hoax.

KemaTheAtheist Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - Yeah... those vaccines that basically eradicated polio and small pox are just horrible. Using stem-cells to *cure* some kinds of blindness is just wrong. And the use of stem-cells and bacteriophages to *cure* x-linked adrenoleukodystrophy is just a travesty to man kind. You are a special type of retarded guidav. Why don't you go ahead and get off your computer, throw out your cell phone, stop watching TV, and using all the other scientific things that make your life better while you're at it?

KemaTheAtheist Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - It's fucking water. There's nothing special about it, guidav. There is no energetic charge that makes it work. Homeopathy is a placebo effect. Nothing more.

kozzakaddam Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - @guidav: Get in the f#@king sack.

willkardon2 Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - Homeopathy and similar stuff is like jerking off, it makes you feel good in your head, but in reality your really no further ahead then when you started and if you do it too much your dick just chafes, putting you further back then when you started. Real results are proven thats why homeopathy et al, are not accepted or allowed to be said as "treatments" or "cures" by any accepted medically body. Yes they do deserve study but if no real benefit can be seen then must be discarded.

BingMcGhandi Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - Last month, during a college class in critical thinking I teach, I opened a pack of homeopathic sleeping pills and took all 20. In three consecutive classes. The fact I am alive shows that homeopathy is goofy. If dilutions in water become more powerful, we should be worried about not polluting our oceans "enough." One smart student quipped: "I'd be more impressed if you only took 2." Think, people!

guidav123 Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - polio was the last disease that was cured. when this happened it put the whole polio industry bankrupt. there was a meeting that was held when this happened to discuss never letting this happen again to any industry that makes lots of money like cancer. Mark my words there will never be another diseaes cured from the mainstream medical establishment.

guidav123 Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - you contradict yourself. the placebo itself is energy healing. your thoughts and emotions are energy and the positive energy you generate from the placebo effect is what heals the patient. beleiving in the placebo effect is more quackery then homeopathy.

KemaTheAtheist Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - I second kozzakaddam... Get in the fuckin' sack...

hadr0n Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - I'm sorry but that is complete woo!

koldtoft Says:

Nov 25, 2009 - Brilliant. I loved this :)

bassbole Says:

Nov 25, 2009 - yea... and that nonsense about using correct spelling and grammar in order to put across a coherent point? one of the biggest hoaxes in history....
