Even if he listened to the same stuff growing up, it's been affected by reworkings and cover versions and interpretations of the original songs. That's why in my opinion Duane is the more original player. Took whay he herd, adapted it for electric and added his own spin on it. Also had an incredable tone... No one came before him so he trailblazed a style we're all copying!! 'Better' means more original for me...

Duane was like a razor blade on fire, always close to the edge. Derek is much cooler, but can bring the heat too. These dudes are head and shoulders above all other slide players. It's disrespectul to their greatness to want to declare a winner. The "winners" are us fans who have been graced by the music. HIt the note again!
