Nov 19, 2009 - Yes but you are avoiding the question. You claim your god is merciful. You also claim he ordered all homosexuals have their heads stoved in with rocks. (Whether he exists is another question we can discuss if you are too scared to answer this question.) God ordered homosexuals have their heads stoved in with rocks. Do YOU think this is a good thing?
wnsbug Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - im catholic i dont like to take the bible literally because there are some pretty crazy things in there... and also, it's written not in the modern times so the views they had like over a millenium ago would be very different and extreme.. in any case, i just try to live a good life, try to be beneficial to everyone around me and be good morally i think that's what being a christian is about. not condemning ppl who aren't christian, but trying to love everyone in this world more love, less hate
aVoiceKrying Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Mycat I like you. You make me laugh. The Law, in its totality, makes perfect sense and is brilliant in its design. It is the reason the Jews have survived as a people. It is why western civilization, which is based on the moral Law of God, enjoys the freedoms and prosperity it does. Civilizations that practiced moral perversions no longer exist. God is smart and man is dumb. Now is the time of grace and forgiveness. "But if our gospel is hid, it is hid to them that are lost."
OnceLostNowGroovin Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - nice job aVoiceKrying God's law keeps people on the straight and narrow. It's deterrence. God's mercy is show on the cross. He died so you can live. The rock thing is harsh. My answer to you is. and what I had to do is, is ask looking for an answer the then think about. wait and listen. Your mind is locked. Open it. Ask God to show you why it was the way it was (the rock thing) Stop. He's love is real. I feel it. This song makes me cry with joy. Ask God. he's listening, are you?
jake127 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - MyCat I'm glad you are asking these questions but this is not the place to do it. I want to encourage you in your search to find out more about what God is like. My opinion of whether God is good or not will not change whether he exists or should be followed. If He commands something to a group of people they should question there source just like you are. We are under a different governing system as they were and cannot follow all of the same laws.
mycatistigger Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Yes but you are again avoiding the question. You claim you're God is merciful. You also admit he ordereds homosexuals have their heads stoved in with rocks. Do you therefore believe it was a good thing to stove homosexuals heads in with rocks? Or do you agree with me that murdering people because of their sexuality is a bad thing?
rkfan101 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Awesomely said.
wnsbug Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - murder itself is a bad thing i dont care if it says in the bible that God wants homosexuals to be condemned i respect homosexuals for who they are and so should everyone it all comes down to whether you are a good person or not you ahve your views, i have mine and other ppl have theirs let's respect each other's thoughts i understand where you are coming from, i was pretty atheist myself once, but once i let go of all the scepticism about God, I felt pretty good about myself being Christian. :)
mycatistigger Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - I appreciate your honesty. But do you not see a contradction in respecting people whom the god you worship condemned to be killed and will burn alive for all eternity (simply for sleeping with someone he doesn't approve of)? Sorry if I keep harping on about his but its one thing that appalls me about Christianity and as an atheist, without having to base my morality around the Bible, the opnions it espouses seem no better than racism).
aVoiceKrying Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - No, I don't see a contradiction. God loves homosexuals, adulterers and every other kind of sinner. He hates their sin. I am to love them also because He loves them. He loves them so much that he died on a cross for their sin. He desires them to turn from their wicked ways and believe the good news. You say you are appalled that God can set the rules and judge his own creation. Get over it. He says that all souls are his. He says the soul that sins shall die. But they don't have to. No one does.
mycatistigger Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - I wasn't actually talking to you I was talking to wnsbug. Never mind. God loves homosexuals, that's why he ordered them to be murdered. That's why he burns them alive. You don't see a contradiction in this? Why not?
aVoiceKrying Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - I know. God's laws are not arbitrary. He says in Ezekiel 33:11, "As I live , says the Lord God, "I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil way! For why should you die? O house of Israel." God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. He takes no pleasure in them being separated from Him forever. They don't want God and don't want to be with Him. So he gives them what they want, separation from Him.
aVoiceKrying Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - If I may, I was not always a Christian. I was like you an agnostic but I really didn't care. I didn't go to church. No one talked to me about God. I didn't even know any Christians at all. I never encountered them. I was a hell raiser. God was never in my thoughts. If he existed or not, I didn't care. Then one night, I had an encounter. I thought I was crazy! The next morning I had another encounter and became a Christian. He has changed my life for better and gave me what I had searched for.
areohen82 Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - Heavenly Father i pray you would take control of my heart and my soul. Every person on earth has some sort of self-established idea of what is right and what is wrong. we do our best to live within these parameters. when the lord our GOD acts outside these parameters we are quick to judge him. maybe just maybe when the lord does something or says something that makes us feel this way it is US as the sinners we are who need to evaluate where we are and what we are doing not GOD.
mycatistigger Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - understand this as a 'loving god' who kills people is a difficult subject for Xtians) but using the bible to justify the bible is just circular reasoning. I'm asking YOU avoice: Do YOU think its a good thing to kill people because they sleep with men rather than women or do YOU like me think such actions are to be deplored?
aVoiceKrying Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - It is a difficult subject for anyone. But your question must be in context. Do I think it is a good thing to execute homosexuals for their sin TODAY? Of course not! God doesn't think so either! We live under a new context. Grace. Under the old context God killed the first two priests the sons of Aaron, for offering the wrong kind of incense. He told Moses he would die for striking the rock instead of speaking to it. God's judgments were severe but not arbitrary. I understand the contexts.
aVoiceKrying Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - areohen is somewhat right. God's thinking is not like ours. It's like my reasoning and my dogs, but much much higher. I had to kill my favorite dog of all time because of the context it had fallen into. My dog could have said, I thought you loved me but you are going to kill me. I could have said you don't understand but I do love you and it is best in this situation for you to die. Sounds deplorable. I cried but it had to be done. All I'm saying is God's thoughts are higher and his ways higher.

Nov 22, 2009 - ( its funny how athiest or whoever...argue with Christians about thier God...so in other words its like to them that I AM GOD and they want answers from me...when im not lol im like everyone else but im Washed in the Blood of JESUS CHRIST! stop questioning Christians and QUESTION who Christians Belive in! GOD! ) i do hope that made sense lol
mycatistigger Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - God's judgments were severe but not arbitrary. God killed the two sons of Aaron because they offered the wrong type if incense. What?
aVoiceKrying Says:
Nov 23, 2009 - If we choose not to believe because of issues judged by us from our own systems, then the excuses can be myriad. God killed Aaron's two sons then told Aaron if he cried for them He would kill him! He almost killed Moses sister because she gripped about Moses' black wife. At one point he told Moses he was going to kill all the Israelites for their disobedience and start over with just Moses. It was not random. The Israelites agreed to enter into covenant with God and knew the consequences.
aVoiceKrying Says:
Nov 23, 2009 - Lucy asks Mr.Beaver in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, is Aslan safe. "Who said anything about him being safe. 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you." Many raise random objections in order to cripple Christianity but in the finale analysis atheism cannot credibly account for the Big Bang, the fine-tuning of the universe, the emergence of life, the existence of moral laws or even the Resurrection of Jesus. God is good and loves us but He is not safe.
mycatistigger Says:
Nov 24, 2009 - Yes and the lion the witch and the wardrobe is as mu ch fiction as the bible is. God's judgements were severe but not arbitrary God killed two of Aaron's sons for offering the wrong kind of incense. What?
bruinss20 Says:
Nov 24, 2009 - mycatistigger the only reason you are an atheist is to get attention or prove the world wrong. You might as well bow to God right now because every knee will bow and every tongue will confess my friend. :))))) stand strong my fellow christians!!!!
