Sep 22, 2009 - This is the greatest thing ever made! "Look at that! Harry is afraid of Dumbledore!"
neokyol Says:
Sep 26, 2009 - Gambon is far better, you bookholic
scarabmango Says:
Sep 30, 2009 - Wanting that important a character cast and played accurately isn't being a nit-picker, it's having common sense and desiring that justice is done to the story. Gambon isn't the only poor casting choice in this whole grand project, but Dumbledore is by *far* the most important character whose casting suffers to that degree. There simply was no excuse to blow through a full FOUR movies before the new Dumbledore even rated "passable." The ball was dropped, and dropped bigtime.
CFCRyan1967 Says:
Oct 7, 2009 - Micheal Gambons dumbledore is alot more involved in the later books than Richard Harris's in the first books. It is for this reason that Micheal Gambons umbledore is alot more intense and less cool calm and collected.
Kachukeland Says:
Oct 7, 2009 - lol, you're watching ALL of my Harry Potter vids? what you said about Dumbledore's involvement is true. His character became more and more prominent as the series went along. But that is no excuse for Gambon to play him this way. Dumbledore was still cool, calm, and collected. Always. He only seldom raised his voice, and it was never out of rage or frustration or fear, it was only to be heard and he was still calm. btw, don't forget to watch my second dumbledore review. You'll like it.
neokyol Says:
Oct 9, 2009 - Your common sense is the common sense of a bookholic stucked in a couple of drawings. I'm glad you didn't make the casting. =)
Kachukeland Says:
Oct 9, 2009 - we wanted to see the books turned into movies. That means accurate characters. Dumbledore was ruined by Michael Gambon. I didn't even care when Dumbledore died in movie 6, but i nearly cried when he died in book 6. That's because Michael Gambon's Dumbledore isn't lovable. We complain because Gambon's Dumbledore is a grumpy old man for whom we don't care.
scarabmango Says:
Oct 9, 2009 - LOL. I'd have a better chance getting to be casting director on these films than you would. You can barely speak English, clown. If you think Gambon is even a tolerable Dumbledore, then you haven't the slightest clue what the character is all about. The emperor has no clothes, moron. Gambon SUCKS.
AotearoaSoldier17 Says:
Oct 12, 2009 - I disagree... both dumbledores are good, but the new one shows more of dumbledores emotions. and the reason dumbledore was mad in gof was because he felt for harries safety
Kachukeland Says:
Oct 12, 2009 - I know why Gambon's Dumbledore yelled at Harry. But Dumbledore didn't do that in the book. That's all I'm saying.
AotearoaSoldier17 Says:
Oct 12, 2009 - yeah so what, screw it. there are alot of things that isn't the same just like in the books. for example, what about hermione's bug teeth?
Kachukeland Says:
Oct 12, 2009 - the only difference between book Hermione and movie Hermione is her hair (bushy in the book, vs becoming straighter and straighter as the movies continue) and her BUCK teeth. Other than that, Emma Watson plays a perfect Hermione. Alan Rickman plays a great Snape, though he has a goatee in the book and Alan Rickman is shaven. I hated the way Madeye Moody looked in the movie, but at least he acted like him. There are visual differences from book to movie, but Gambon is NOTHING LIKE DUMBLEDORE
AotearoaSoldier17 Says:
Oct 13, 2009 - look... the movies are NOTHING like the books as well if you start to compare them together. they ruined alot of things in the movies, but still I like them and I watch it. I understand your opinion if you don't like Micheal Gambon as Dumbledore, but you'll have to deal with it because what happend is happend. Richard Harris can't come back t life to earn his role back as Dumbledore.
Kachukeland Says:
Oct 13, 2009 - True, the movies are gradually veering away from the original material, but Gambon's Dumbledore is still, by far, the most inaccurate. true, Richard Harris is dead forever, and true we're stuck with Michael Gambon. But that doesn't mean I have to like it. Make sure you watch my second Dumbledore Review, if you haven't already. I talk about the 6th movie
scarabmango Says:
Oct 15, 2009 - Dumbledore *does not show* his emotions to that degree. He's usually cheerful with varying degrees of "mild-mannered," and he might show a slight tinge of anger here and there, but he is in control at all times. Gambon's portrayal isn't just what you might call a different interpretation of the character, it's 180 degrees of difference in several important areas! Gambon represents a casting screwup on just about every level imaginable. All they got right was "British" and "Caucasian!"
Sloth7d Says:
Oct 23, 2009 - Right Dumbledore in't the type to overreact and let people know he's paicing eve if he is. Al the same, I still preferred Gambon over Harris just because Harris voice was so weak and wheezing for energy.
CannonBolt112 Says:
Oct 23, 2009 - i like Micheal gambon's because he shows more emotion and i prefer his accent
SweetAngelOfMusic94 Says:
Nov 1, 2009 - I totally agree. I miss Richard Harris and his Dumbledore... ;(
Crichjo32 Says:
Nov 2, 2009 - While I do prefer Harris over Gambon's dumbledore, I don't think either of them were a great portrayal of dumbledore. Harris' dumbledore while kind and charming, was too frail and unenergetic (but that was because of Harris' health). Gambon's dumbledore while alot more energetic and deeper voiced than Harris, was far too grumpy and over-reactive. He was nowhere close to the dumbledore of the books. They should have cast Stephen Fry as big D from the start. He practically is dumbledore.
Mawiely Says:
Nov 4, 2009 - UGH! everyone said I was over reacting w/ Gambon's portrayal of Dumbledore but it's just ridiculous...He stripped the one thing that set him apart from any other fictional wise guy. He had a quirky personality...cheerful and bright...WHERE DID THAT GO??! I could give two shits less about any other character (though i was pissed that harry's eyes weren't green and that daniel was too much of a wimp to use contacts) but dumbledore had to be perfect! and he wasn't DX
Haaxma Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - hilarious, and sadly, true too...
Haaxma Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - And also Emma was just too cute to be Hermione. And why wasn´t Harry´s hair all scruffy, like how it was described in the book, and wasn´t his scar supposed to be in the middle of his head?? (Curious minds want to know!)
thesalsasoup Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - couldn't agree more, mostly on the scar, everytime its on screen it bugs the hell out of me because its off center.
totoro1591 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - I loved Richard Harris too! I was sad when he passed away... yeah... the movies just got worse and worse...

wiltabone Says:
Sep 19, 2009 - I didn't invent that ...
