Nov 17, 2009 - No, you can't have your strings "too tight to begin with" because string length and correct tone (ie, EADGB or E) defines the string tension force. Manufacturers ensure that this is well below the string's breaking strain. While tuning up a bit is still generally "no problem" most alternate tunings tune down (which is all I originally said). The tuning in this beautiful tune is an example. There is also DADGAD and the popular "Drop-D" and others.

Nov 17, 2009 - not to be rude or anything but apparently you've never heard ACTUAL rap or hip hop, the stuff they dont play on the radio. that is actually nothing BUT talent. good rap is insane wordplay that can get a message across without much music, relying purely on clever lyrics. I'm not saying i hate this kind of music; im actually really into music and I think this is a beautiful song, im just saying that good lyricists and MCs are in fact INCREDIBLY talented

Nov 17, 2009 - The most beautiful thing I have herd next to the laugh of my child. You are truly talented my friend. Much respect, appreciation, and best wishes brother.

wiiviewsjunior Says:

Nov 18, 2009 - @ honmon3 I should know what that music sounds like. My friend is white and he thinks he's part time gangster, so he makes me listen to all of that stuff. They made write and sing the songs cleverly, but it's not really proper music in my opinion, because they're just singing, the rest of the music in the background is editied by someone else. Besides, who says music have to have singers? :D

Nov 19, 2009 - @duncanturner91. You're right - check out the FACFCF tuning on Don Ross's Berkley Springs. Two strings tuned up a full tone and one by a half-tone. Two are tuned down by a tone so this should equalize the overall tension. Dare I say the tune (it's on Youtube) is even nicer than this one by Andy!! (although sound quality is crappier).

Nov 20, 2009 - I think its really great when people get inspiration from one type of art and use it in another... for example, bob dylan the musician had been inspired by a painter. It just really goes to show how its all art, just different people use different ways to express it... good luck with your novel :)
