Feb 12, 2009 - Great!! I think Freddie is playing a Getzen flugelhorn here. He gets a real good sound and plays all over the horn with great ease. We do miss Freddie.

Modes9 Says:

Mar 28, 2009 - I knew he could rip on bebop, post-bop, and free, but I didn't know he could get really expressive on ballads. He is a huge musical loss.

Apr 1, 2009 - What a nice atmosphere! It's always good to see greats play with local musicians; there's no competition; there's just a friendly conversation in a common language, whether it's in Budapest or wherever. And great audience, too. Thanks for posting this, jazz957. It's a gem.

docsax Says:

Jun 24, 2009 - This is not really a ballad, it's a slow swing groove, about the same tempo that Cannonball recorded it Miles on Somethin' Else. A master jazz artist, and most accomplished jazz musicians can play ballads, med tempos, up tempos, blues etc, that's all part of it. Glad you enjoyed Freddie, he was a true master and one of the most important jazz soloists of jazz history.
