Oct 12, 2009 - As depressing as the ending is, it's reality. Democracy isn't what it used to be. We live in a corporate world where money and cliche is more powerful than the single individual who has a belief. It's a different place we're living in now. Most importantly, stability is a commodity that has to be maintained without the intrusion of personal belief. Stability come first, not the American Dream, not total Democracy, and not what's "fair". Reality always overthrows idealism.

Oct 14, 2009 - The truth is if you want to preserve individual freedom, it's more possible under a free market system than a collectivist democracy. If you want to marry your gay lover, why should you wait for approval by the majority of citizens? Under a free market system, your partner and you can sign a marriage contract, bequeathing whatever property you want to each other, and that's it. No need to beg for approval from courts, legislatures, or a majority of people. Why? Because you're free individuals.

Oct 16, 2009 - "Democracy isn't what it used to be" It was never what it used to be.

Oct 18, 2009 - A lot of truth in this and more apt now than then. Market globalization and control was taken to an extreme, benefitting the rich and many times harming others. Of course, Beatty sees this as the "natural" course of things when in reality much of it is contrived and twisted. Great for the wealthy and powerful like him but keeping the masses in their own kind of prison. No equality going on in this kind of world view. As shown greed literally KILLS. And capitalistic extremeism "became" America.

Oct 21, 2009 - Why is everyone so anti-America? USA going down? You seem to forget that this very website is run by a company based in the US! Yes of course Democracy isn't reaching the ultimate achievement it set out to, but then neither did Communism but it did a lot worse!! Perhaps it's not so much about the system, but the hearts of the people involved. Selfishness, malintent and basic imperfection will cause any establishment to fail.

leshager2009 Says:

Oct 21, 2009 - democracy is a farce...a wonderful idea, much like communism was a wonderful idea...but in practice, like communism..it has FAILED. not just RIP USA....RIP every nation, RIP ever individual. long live corporations who are the true one nation of the world.

GhostShip09 Says:

Oct 21, 2009 - Why is everyone so anti-America? The Line of people around the world that does not like the USA is longer than the Line of people who waited in Line to kill the former President of the Soviet Union called Mikhail Gorbachev. The USA Banks are GREEDY. Two Greedy USA Banks collapsed and as result of it Australia has lost over US$80 Billion dollars. Over 200,000 Australians lost their houses and their jobs. If all your money in the Bank is Gone and you cannot get it back you will join the Club.

Oct 23, 2009 - At the age of 23, the more i learn about this country(USA) and the global politics in general it just saddens me to the core. It seems to be in our nature(humans) to kill ourselves and each other to gain "property" its so fucking sad! I keep a hollow point .45 by my bed because of this, god i hope i don't have to use it....

Nov 12, 2009 - look, it's not human nature to be that want to kil people, it's human behavior. just like greed, hatered and crime: it's all human behavior, imagine a world where everything is machinized, and u could get stuff without any money, people won't steal, and money cant make classes anymore. so don't do stupid things, just see your self as an activist against money, because thats the real problem here! to help u get going, please check out "the venus project . com"

HoosierMF Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - It's not in our nature to kill ourselves. We just end up that way because of the small percentage of people who have all the money and power. THEY are the reason things seem so hopeless.

JollyMcMerry Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - I´m not sure about that. You know the ridiculous amount of money that it would cost to feed starving people of the world? it could be "us", the majority, which pays for it... no more iPhones, no more burger king, but 1 kilogram of carrots for the same price as one burger... etc etc...
