Aug 27, 2009 - Were they really called American Beatles. I guess if it's true then they managed to get past the Beatles curse. The curse is when somebody compares there band to The Beatles and that band never releases anything again and if they do it doesn't get good publicity.

Swartzie6 Says:

Aug 27, 2009 - No thats the Mod look,,This was 1969..the years before they always wore the Revoluntionary War Garb

Swartzie6 Says:

Aug 27, 2009 - Yes the survived that curse allright...They had many hit songs..I think the comparison of Mark Lindsey's looks to Paul McCartney was the reason

nogoodsnookeroo Says:

Aug 27, 2009 - Oh thanks for telling me. I didn't know that.

nogoodsnookeroo Says:

Aug 27, 2009 - They were an amazing band. In my opinion the best American band. That might be the reason

Swartzie6 Says:

Aug 28, 2009 - your welcome..they were trying to be with the times as i recall...this was a huge decade of change..I'm thankfull to have been a teenager then

Swartzie6 Says:

Aug 28, 2009 - Well they definately had hit after hit..They were my favorite as well...I only wish they got more play time on radio stations..in the 60's they owned the airwaves

nogoodsnookeroo Says:

Aug 28, 2009 - Man you're lucky. I'm 17, so whenever I turn on the radio I have to hear the crap that gets put out today, I have to plug my ipod in to hear all the good stuff like The Beatles, Paul Revere, the solo work of The Beatles.

Swampgirly Says:

Aug 29, 2009 - They stopped wearing those outfits sometime during their tv show, which was called Happening '68, and then just Happening. They did because it was affecting how they were perceived because it was starting to affect their career. It's unfair, as many of the groups at the time used gimmicks. You mentioned them also being compared to the Beatles, and the Beatles themselves used their hair style as a gimmick. I think that this vid is probably from their European tour in 1969.

Sep 2, 2009 - While most music was geering towards a more folky sound by the end of the 60's. Paul The Boys kept thier phsychadelic sound just the same.

tomczap Says:

Sep 4, 2009 - The last footage of PRR with the outfits is in the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge commercial, you can find it easily on here.

Nov 15, 2009 - I saw The Raiders several times, was soooo in love with Mark Lindsay (I named my female cat Mark Lindsay :) I saw them in '69 for the last time, went to the hotel where they were staying hoping to meet Mark. I didn't, but met Keith Allison and got to "know him better". Of course, I was a lovesick groupie, but don't regret it at all :)
