Oct 30, 2009 - also thanks for the get well wish im still sick and its my Bday today and my best friends been hit with swine flu so its a crappy holiday for me

ChrisDaron Says:

Oct 30, 2009 - People ignorantly dress up because "it's fun". Some Christians (such as Catholics and Pentecostals) don't celebrate it because they know the meaning. Masks, demons, darkness... Halloween is a celebration for Lucifer. Period. If you think dressing up, dress up some other day. And if you love candy, eat candy some other day. The devil has a sweet tooth, too, you know? It's a dumb celebration. Not even a holiday. For some reasons people think it's a holiday.

kittianakazuma Says:

Oct 30, 2009 - omg chris GET A GRIP!! learn the real origins of samhain before you mock my religion. The day is not of darkness and demons, it is a day to honor our ancestors and the end of the harvest season.

kittianakazuma Says:

Oct 30, 2009 - and if you want to get technical the "dressing up because it is fun" really insults me. We dress up to appease or honor our dead friends, relatives, ancestors

GoodGamesrlikemovies Says:

Oct 30, 2009 - well i've heard many stories but one was of mexico known as Day of the Dead they honourd spirits and celebrated there life on earth with a festival in which they invnted a candy "Sugar skulls" they dressed of mostly skeletons but that was just and old rumor anyways it may not be right

kittianakazuma Says:

Oct 31, 2009 - yes that is one of the origins goodgamers :)

Oct 31, 2009 - The voiceover man is far too excited. I'd prefer a more objective tone.

heylelshalem Says:

Oct 31, 2009 - leave it to the christian to misinterprit and marr the true meaning of samhain. Lets all try to remember the real meaning of this holiday.

alchemistxp2 Says:

Nov 1, 2009 - so what would you say about Christmas? Halloween is a Pagan holiday and so is Christmas, you Christians just pretend it is a christian holiday.

ChrisDaron Says:

Nov 1, 2009 - Christmas is the birth of Jesus. The United States basically has made it pagan. But Christians celebrate Christ's birthday. That's it. Halloween is dumb.

gaerwitch Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - They Say In Medival Times, when Everyone Had No Education, Any Smart Women was a Witch (not men). So every year on All hallows Eve they would try to kill them cause they thought it was the day for evil.

Crickettedog Says:

Nov 3, 2009 - @alchenistp2: In chatting with a friend in Poland, we discussed Halloween and Christmas and how those holidays ere practiced in Poland. I told him that I could see no correlation between Christmas and the constant drumbeat of Buy Buy Buy of Capitalism. Where is the religion? Halloween is celebrated in Poland by putting light (candle) on the graves of the dead. Some Poles are now using light powered with batteries. There is no historical evidence that there ever was a Jesus..

alchemistxp2 Says:

Nov 3, 2009 - Halloween, originally known as Samhain, was a celebration of the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. spirits of the dead would cross into our world and people would sacrifice animals to appease these spirits and keep them away from their homes. Samhain, originated in Ireland, so i would expect different customs from Poles. I know their is no evidence for Jesus, I do not believe he ever existed but i do believe that Christmas is a Pagan holiday disguised as Christianity.

peanuts935 Says:

Nov 7, 2009 - Actually christmas isn't Jesus' birthday as it says in the bible thats there were lambs in the manger and everyone knows lambs are only born in spring

ChrisDaron Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - Right.. is December Spring? There were lambs, Mary, Joseph, other animals and other people, plus an angel. Christmas IS about Christ's birthday, little girl.

CraigCuTcH Says:

Nov 16, 2009 - You commenters are both right. Christmas is both Pagan and Christian, they changed the Pagan festival to be about Christ's birth in order to ease people's transition into Christianity. Jesus wasn't born in December necessarily, but that was how they decided to celebrate it on the Winter Solstice along with the Pagan festival.

Oudler Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - David Skal is an excellent author. I have several of his books on classic horror films. The Monster Show is an exceptionally good one.
