Oct 30, 2009 - Fuck every church of any religion
OpenComments Says:
Oct 31, 2009 - Scientology ruins lives. It harasses critics. It breaks up families. It abuses the weak and the lost. It impoverishes the gullible, and then turns them to indentured servitude when they can no longer afford to pay their way to 'enlightenment'. It has no respect for human dignity, human rights, and human life. Scientology plays on the victims vulnerability and pocketbook. xenu(.)net whyweprotest(.)net Knowledge is Free. Scientology is Not a Religion. It is a Dangerous Cult.

Nov 1, 2009 - Scientology is a cult in MYMYMYMYMYMY opinion
OpenComments Says:
Nov 1, 2009 - The current administration of the "Church" of Scientology shows consistent disturbing patterns of behavior that intimidates critics, suppresses dissent, abuses the legal system, destroys the basic family unit and other social bonds, interferes with a person's right to leave the Church's organization "Sea Org," coerces abortions, has abusive working conditions (not just for adults but minors), has medical negligence, and lies about their own practices.
OpenComments Says:
Nov 1, 2009 - The extent at which these abuses are practiced, institutionalized, and enforced by the main administrative body of the organization is not only alarming; it is criminal. Organized Scientology operates as a for-profit corporation, where exploitative fees are mandatory for pseudo-scientific "courses." As such, Organized Scientology should be classified as a business, and indeed only relies on "religious" status to evade both taxes and criticism.

Nov 8, 2009 - It's good BBC's unafraid of Scientology. But in Canada we have Gerry Armstrong.Gerry was an insider picked in the '80s to research write an official Hubbard bio, enjoying access to L.Ron's personal papers, but soon learned 99% of Hubbard's biographical claims were lies! When he told this to others they became hostile. He fled has suffered persecution ever since.CBC Shaw TV both completed shows of Gerry's story but got "chilled" caved to Scientology's legal threats iced the shows.Cowards

Nov 8, 2009 - BBC error : "...the E-METER, designed by L.Ron" NO! FACT: "Although Hubbard's name is on the patent application, the E-meter was actually invented by a chiropractor named Volney Mathison, and originally called the Mathison Model B Electropsychometer.Mathison also marketed a cheaper "Quiz Meter" and a manuscript on "Electropsychometry" by L. Ron Hubbard and himself.Mathison's Electropsychometer was promoted as an aid to psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, which is anathema to Scientologists!"

Nov 20, 2009 - @ OpenComments: Same thing with Mormonism!
OpenComments Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - While the Mormon church do share parallels with Scientology (such as possibly hidden doctrines and its expensive commercials in the 80s), it is Scientology which blackmailed the IRS in order to obtain tax exempt status, and still perpetrates the abuses today. It is Scientology that has the specific documentation on how to lie to media and milk its members out of as much as money as possible. The behavior of the organization, not the belief system, is what is the issue here.
WWZenaDo Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - Ah, guys, get a clue... The guy was a science-fiction writer; I strongly suspect that he was experimenting with human belief systems to see if he could artificially 'prompt' the genesis of a new religion - and he succeeded! This is an EXCELLENT example for sociologists to study - the origins and evolution of a religious movement. It's no more true than any other religion; but a good 'test' of evolution of religion. I think ol' Hubbard MEANT to demonstrate the true origins of all religions.
WWZenaDo Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - And very fitting for those who believe in other religions - it was a 'con' artist who started Scientology; the Mormon religion was started by a guy who "pulled something [a 'white rabbit,so to speak'] out of his hat - and at a time when the phrase "he was talking thru his hat' meant the actions of a con artist as he attempted to fool people. Far too many religions were started by con artists - only to have the 'con artist' deified later on...

OpenComments Says:
Oct 29, 2009 - I'm actually not making excuses for ANY abuses. All I'm arguing is that none of the abuses within other religions are both tolerated and encouraged by Scientology's management. But I already know we see this differently and am willing to accept a different point of view. So I feel the same way about you minimizing what Fair Game is the same way you feel about me saying other religion's managements are not as corrupt and dangerous as Scientology's. Agree to disagree then?
