Sep 12, 2009 - They are masterful compared today's politicians, in my opinion. Perhaps I just prefer the more 'old fashioned' speech patterns they adopted in public speaking at the time. Nixon wins for me, mostly just in delivery voice wise.

Sep 18, 2009 - to be honest, nixon was a good presidnt, the only thing that screwed him up was that he was 2 insecure about what people thought of him, so he did crazy things. by just listening i would've voted 4 nixon, but by looking and listening, Kennedy looks more confident...so i would say it was a tie for me

When this debate was aired, television was being highly accepted in society, so people were viewing this on their black-white TV and noticing Kennedy's firm stance and tanned body (you can kind of see how he's darker than Nixon) and yeah... Nixon looked like horrible so it was mostly based off appearance unless you were listening to the radio. I actually think your on the spot, because Nixon wasn't that bad with his views and had some good points but looks horrible.

Now, I'm not saying I'm a big fan of Nixon. In fact, I'm Dutch, so have kinda nothing to do with all of this, but we're going over this with History right now ;-) If I would be a bigger fan of either one of them - and that would've been Kennedy -, that would've only been 'cuz his name is called in Legally Blonde: The Musical :D

Nov 21, 2009 - I know this sounds corny to say, but man I am so glad stuff like this, though only 50 yrs. old, (much older than I have memory of) is still available for public record. It really helps understand these "Presidents of old" more intimately. Unrelated, I note how different those times were; The change of focus from P.R. (Posture, smiling, rolled up sleeves) to understanding the candidates more clearly.
