Nov 14, 2009 - coupé ie. french origin, and pronounced COOPAY!!. Then again I think it was George W that said don't trust a country that had no word for entrepeneur ( the thick cunt was referring to the French ) DOH!!!!!!!!!!

Nov 15, 2009 - nice

Nov 15, 2009 - With reference to what you actually mean - it isn't a readily used term and doesn't seem to support your argument? It is perfectly possible to have engines of identical displacement (whatever the configuration), producing the same power and having vastly different fuel economy. While in theoryland you can only extract a certain amount of power from fuel, you have to take into account real world factors such as thermal efficiency.

Nov 15, 2009 - pretty damn ugly in my opinion. the new 3 series looks great. old ones..... are just horrible.

Nov 15, 2009 - To bad this is the last year for the Rx8's I liked them a lot.
cliffkemp Says:
Nov 16, 2009 - Mpg and thermal efficiency are 2 different things that have outside factors. i do take into account real world factors and you have just tried to twist around what i said. You dont understand what I am saying. having 2 eng of same cid and power having different fuel economy is easy. You have yet to make a point or to disprove mine. I can prove mine easily. Think before you type please.
fatfish79 Says:
Nov 16, 2009 - I am thinking - the problem is I'm trying to work with what you are saying. You've made a very general sweeping statement using terms which have no meaning without any evidence/calculations to back it up and are then resorting to taking pops at anyone that challenges it. If you make a statement, then being able to back it up when queried is surely a pre-requisite. Think before you respond please.

Nov 16, 2009 - Clarkson failed to mention how much of a PITA a rotary is to maintain. If he owned one he would at least be telling us about how he has to add a quart of oil at almost every fill-up to compensate for the oil that burns in a 2-stroke motor. I love rotaries, but I'd never get one while on a tight budget
iking89 Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - help please...im having problems with my rx8.. when i drive there is this red icon light that pops out on the left which indicates that there is a problem in the engine...i have to press my clutch and wait till the RPM reaches 1 or so then the red light goes off...sometimes it doesnt goes off for a long period of time.. can anyone help me with my problem?
cliffkemp Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - You didnt read all the posts that I made. i did think when I said what I did but, when limited to 500 characters, I send people messages instead. it was not as general as you think it was.
fatfish79 Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - Quote cliffkemp: "if you were to put a 1.3L piston engine in the 8 and it is tuned to produce 230 NA hp, it will get the same mpg as the rotary" Quote cliffkemp: "having 2 eng of same cid and power having different fuel economy is easy" You're not making a consistent point. Read the reply I've sent you, decide what your argument is and then send me some proof (statements don't count as proof) to back it up and we'll go from there.
cliffkemp Says:
Nov 18, 2009 - dont take out of context please. Remember i said that the mpg would be the same if both cars the engines are in had same weight, Cd, gearing, and power curve. the second statement is easy to back up.
fatfish79 Says:
Nov 18, 2009 - Right, think we're getting somewhere with the messages! My point is that the wankel and reciprocating engines are different pieces of engineering. Even if you could get identical performance from two engines in controlled conditions then the thermodynamic and mechanical losses experienced (and hence fuel consumption) would be different for each engine. If we disagree on that, then I'm happy to accept we have fundamental differences on physics and mechanics and leave it at that. ;)
cliffkemp Says:
Nov 18, 2009 - I agree due to so many variables, the efficiencies of both engines could not be truly compared. They work in different ways and achieve work in 2 different ways. Both have good and bad attributes but, the rotary is not mainstream due to misconceptions and lack of RD.
antiLeixo Says:
Nov 18, 2009 - rotary engine
genocyde83 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - I love this car for the main factor that it is different. I hate being like everyone else namely Honda's. Sure there is more upkeep to this but I love the looks and handle and smoothness of the engine. Plus if power is your thing just swap in a 13B-REW or 20B 3 rotor. problem solved.

Nov 20, 2009 - ive had this car 2 yrs now and still get people looking at it constantly spoke to a mazda techy bout it and he said three things to be mindful of oil battery and flooding. if you start it up in cold weather you gotta let it get warm and not switch off as spark plugs are underneath so if fuel not burnt it will flood as happened to me. i use 5 ltr tub of oil and it lasts me a year. i fill up every 3 months. but not many cars standard and for the money handle as well as the RX8 and thats a fact.

Nov 20, 2009 - I miss the rx-7 this is nice and all but its not an rx-7.
jasonsr3 Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - In a drag race yes but in just about every other way I would dissagree. I love my rx8r3 its way better a daily driver then my rx7 was. I loved my rx7 at the time but it was just too impractical and road like shit. my rx8 drives and rides way better its just not as fast but its still quick and fun as hell to drive also its way quieter with a more solid feel and more upscale interior. Im gonna look for a used rx7 next year to use as a track car thats when the rx7 really shines but prices are high.
