Sep 15, 2009 - Well, I'm 45 years old would have only been 3 years old at the time of this performance -- but "Him Or Me" is one of my favorite tunes of a very great decade in music. It's not played as much on the oldies as it should be.

Sep 15, 2009 - still a ton of info out there on the Net... check out some current stuff... RIP Drake Levin.

PAULLONDEN Says:

Sep 16, 2009 - Good....finally a credible performance from these guys. Could have used a pop cover on his mic though. I was one of the few here in Europe, who was hip to this band. Apart from' Let Me',they meant nothing here, shame....people missed out on some great music.

Sep 23, 2009 - Leggy Mountbatten would clearly approve.

Sep 29, 2009 - I have a thing about lead singers. Their body movements.

Oct 5, 2009 - There is no bigger PR TR fan than me but I have to say, Mark should have taken some kind of dance lessons - his movemnets are sexy I guess but embarrasing! Other than that, what a GREAT song!!!

flamesounds Says:

Oct 5, 2009 - Lucky for The Stones that Paul Revere and the Raiders management took them in a more pop/mainstream direction. .They looked better, moved better, rocked harder, were heavier, better singers, songwriters and musicians..They could hvve easily mopped the floor with The Stones. Don't get me wrong, I love old Stones....but it's so obvious.

Oct 5, 2009 - My favorite song of theirs (because it's PERFECT), and one of the songs that got rock'n'roll's foot in my door when I was little...thanks so much for posting this. Great to hear it and see it.

Oct 6, 2009 - You mean Kicks wasn't a hit over there? sure was here

PAULLONDEN Says:

Oct 6, 2009 - Yeah....me too,the thing that get's to me, is his mic handling,if you look at all their vids,Lindsay had a rather limp way to hold his mic,(as if it was a lollypop) . Otherwise....Great sounds,(that's what it's all about).

Nov 2, 2009 - that is a rockin song

terry9911 Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - FYI, Paul Revere's last name is really Dick. Revere is his middle name! I still loved the group and their songs though.

Jaybird1103 Says:

Nov 4, 2009 - This rare lineup of Mark Lindsay, Paul Revere, Freddy Weller, Phil Volk, and Mike "Smitty" Smith was the one used when Paul Revere and the Raiders made their only appearance of "The Ed Sullivan Show". I think Keith Allison, Charlie Coe, and Joe "Kid" Correro soon replaced Volk, Weller, and Smith.

jazzbo89 Says:

Nov 7, 2009 - Did you know that Drake Levin flew to NY with Volk and Smith thinking he was going to perform on Sullivan? Levin had stepped back into the band to finish the spring 67 tour when Valley left prematurely. Unbeknownst to Levin or the rest of the band, Revere had hired Freddy Weller to play as he thought Levin was responsible for Volk and Smith's pending departure, so he wasn't going to let Levin perform. Drake watched from the wings. I would have loved to see Drake Levin perform in these clips

Jaybird1103 Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - Levin, Volk, and Smith (AKA Kid, Fang, and Smitty) formed the group The Brotherhood which recorded for RCA Victor records. To me, the downfall of Paul Revere and the Raiders happened when Levin (who filled in for Volk when he was sick), Smith, Volk, and Levin's replacement, Jim (Harpo) Valley, left the band, and a few years later, when Mark Lindsay left for a solo career.

Jaybird1103 Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - If I were Drake Levin, I would have made an Epiphone Popsicle of Paul Revere, if you get my drift.

jazzbo89 Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - Yeah, but It's always been Revere's band since 58. He ran the show. Also,Drake had class. Such a gracious guy, he reportedly even showed Weller how to play some of the chords before the show. In retrospect, it's easy to see that was a major turning point for the band, but hey, life is a series of events and decisions. Sometimes they are life altering. Regardless of the split, the Raiders still had a ton of success. There was just a difference in vision and everyone has to go with their gut.
