They respire in a manner similar to amphibians, they have characteristics of both species, being a fish which spends much of its time on land. Also, lacking an explanation now for how certain aspects of the process occurred does not mean there is no explanation. Our gaps in knowledge keep shrinking, that's a lousy place to hide your God.
