Nov 2, 2009 - Did you not watch the video? Your choice is to have the Public plan if you WANT to. If not then you stay with you current private insurer. Who said anything about forcing people to pay for public plan ?

liz775 Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - Exactly. And that's why we desperately need a public plan in the reform bill to give these bureaucrats some competition in the field.

liz775 Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - give some evidence, genius. and even if it did, which it didn't, does that eradicate the fact that it provides better coverage and its considerably more affordable?

liz775 Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - says who? and what about the millions who ARE unable to pay for insurance? and the other millions who ARE paying ridiculous premiums for insurance and when needed are denied the coverage they have been paying for years..?/??

burrheadjr Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - It is like saying we have a public school option. Your taxes ( a big chunk of them at that) pay for public schools, but if you don't take THIS public option, in addition to having the increased tax burden of paying for public schools, you have to pay privet school tuition. Everyone knows public school sucks, but even though everyone still has a privet option, we can't afford to pay for both.

seekanduwillfind Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - Not sure which of my comments you are replying to, but you obviously are a proponent of the public option. Good for you. Now, explain to me why I should pay for it if I choose to opt out. And just fyi, medicade denies more claims than ANY private insurance company, but I suppose we should ignore that small fact. freemarketmojo*dot*wordpress*dot*com

needparalegal Says:

Nov 3, 2009 - How stupid are you? The Government Accounting Office found that the Pubic Option would save $25 billion over the next ten years. Moron.

needparalegal Says:

Nov 3, 2009 - LOL. From the level of Irony you exhibit you must be in the GOP.

liz775 Says:

Nov 3, 2009 - You pay through your taxes for virtually all American services, that many i'm sure you don't use. so why would you think you will actually start paying for services you think you will opt-out of, which i'm sure you won't once you see its effect. You're paying considerably more for those bureaucrat insurance companies , instead of pasrt of that money being used to provide service for people desperately in need.

seekanduwillfind Says:

Nov 3, 2009 - Oh yes, the G.A.O. I trust them, they never fudge numbers to pass legislation. Listen, PARAlegal, you can regurgitate to me everything you hear from olbermann and maddow, but I've already heard it. Do some research, don't just listen to the media hogs. As for how stupid am I? Only as dumb as the person who engages in conversation with me, does that answer your low level question?

rickrocker Says:

Nov 3, 2009 - LOL From the lack of definition of your use of "irony", I can see you are one of the racist CNN subscribers who are told that anyone with a different opinion is of the GOP or an Uncle Tom.

quirkjerks Says:

Nov 4, 2009 - Everything the government touches turns to shit. We know this(or at least should by now) So lets just let them handle our healthcare. People really are retarded. Fine, turn a hospital into a DMV. Go have your SAGA-like healthcare reform you bums. -The jerk.

OnlyinAmerica100 Says:

Nov 4, 2009 - Hey "BlameRepublicans" how much are you getting paid by the Dems to come on this cite and spew your vile venum? Ugh enough already, you are revolting, you are mighty high on yourself, you have issues...

NEUWORLDANIME Says:

Nov 5, 2009 - watch?v=1D8Kt84YAYY is important and for your own good

jacobew2000 Says:

Nov 5, 2009 - The public option is illegal under the constitution because it deprives private companies of their liberties to offer products and services at a fair market value. The government will then have to pay for the lost income because under the constitution, they can not deprive citizens of money, or property without just compensation!

FightImperialism Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - You have never read the constitution have you?

jacobew2000 Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - Oh I have. Im sure that you are talking about Article 8 of the constitution. The problem with "regulating commerce" clause is that I would argue that insurance is not a good, but rather a service, which is local in nature. How about the FIFTH AMENDMENT!

jacobew2000 Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - The problem with the Article 8 is that it still can not violate the Ffth Amendent. If private companies are forced out of business because of unjust taxes (the public option with be a tax), then it violates the fifth amendment on private commerce.

FightImperialism Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - So how exactly is medicare unconstitutional? Old people don't have to choose it, they can go with a private plan. So there is competition already existing between public and private companies. What about the postal service and Fedex? The public option would allow a fair market value, it would just be lower because of the strong negotiating power of a far-reaching public exchange. Your reading of the constitution is a little nutball, with all due respect of course.

FightImperialism Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - And there is nothing in the fifth amendment about private commerce. The amendment deals with due process in criminal and civil cases and compensation in imminent domain scenarios.

summonedtowalk87 Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - Medicare is unconstitutional because the power to create an insurance option (which is what Medicare is) is not enumerated to the Federal Government in Article I Section 8 (where the enumerated powers are contained). There is some debate among modern scholars as to the role of the term "General Welfare" in this clause, but the Framers were unanimously in agreement: The Federal Government is limited to the 18 powers enumerated in Article I Section 8.

jacobew2000 Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - It is going to be the first time in history that the federal goverment is going to require you to buy a product/service. The house bill will fine you can put you in prison for up to 5 years if you do not have healthcare insurance. So where is the individual choice in this? If i dont want private or public insurance, then why should I be forced to buy it? This is the big lie that was put forth.. Oh btw, it cuts $600billion from medicare! Seniors are screwed!

DrJobinsp Says:

Nov 13, 2009 - How is the public option going to deprive private companies of their liberty to offer products and services at a fari market value? If the public option can run the health care system at a lesser price than the pvt ones, then isnt that the fair market value ??

jacobew2000 Says:

Nov 13, 2009 - The biggest issue is that Govt has never ran any program without having to latter bail it out. The government can artificially set any price they want, and can pay for it at any time when its failing by raising taxes on it. Medicare has been failing for years, and has never paid for itself. It will get cut by $600Billion. That shows you how well they will manage a public option. Public option+govt taxin anytime they want to prop it up=private insurance not being able to compete.

jacobew2000 Says:

Nov 13, 2009 - Cash for clunkers was a disaster. Temporary help to the new car industry, but hurt the secondary auto/repair/parts market. The $850Bil federal bailout is proving almost with daily news reports to have failed. Obama has falsified the actual jobs created (5 actual jobs doesnt equal 100 reported according to the AP). Unemployement keeps going up and up (I keep loosing my job due to cutbacks). U think they will handle pub option right. BTW, 20 states have passed 10th amend demands to stop it.
