Pure passion, no guitars, as beautiful as they are when they blast in on other versions, nothing but brilliant vocals, perfect keyboards, total focus on the lyrics. A part of Bruce's genius was doing that with most of a great band standing silent and making you realize a great song is a great song no matter how it's done and discovering all the different ways to do it..
