Feb 22, 2009 - I heard a few moments of the Met's Adriana on the radio this afternoon with Domingo and Guleghina, including this aria. While meaning no disrespect for Guleghina, listening to her rather routine performance (with somewhat flat top notes) was a CLEAR reminder of what we have been missing since Freni's retirement. But where are their successors, the true talianate liric, and spinto sopranos, are they extinct?
