Oct 23, 2009 - how hard is it to make it into the cso?

himrasmus101 Says:

Oct 23, 2009 - i live in mn too

BassetHoundTrio Says:

Oct 24, 2009 - Very difficult indeed. Openings are rare (where does one go from the Chicago Symphony?) and the audition process is brutal, with very stiff competition. Candidates come from all over the world - it is, very likely, the finest orchestra.

BassetHoundTrio Says:

Oct 24, 2009 - Is this on DVD somewhere?

brokenxpromise27 Says:

Oct 24, 2009 - what are you saying no too?

zachindie Says:

Oct 25, 2009 - I like Marche Slave, but I'm not a big fan of the 1812 Overture. Tchaikovsky actually did not like the 1812 Overture much himself.

MirthaLuzFacundo Says:

Oct 28, 2009 - ¡Genial!

otherjoe1234 Says:

Oct 30, 2009 - incredibly, especially for the brass. cso could very possibly have the best brass section of all the world's orchestras.

zattacks Says:

Oct 31, 2009 - Not beating out each chord at the end implies a scary-high amount of trust between the orchestra and conductor. This is pretty much the best this piece gets. In my opinion at least.

otherjoe1234 Says:

Nov 1, 2009 - yeah, i'm in college and many of my professors will attest that this is THE best recording of the 4th out there, if not one of the best

ShOwBiZ88 Says:

Nov 3, 2009 - da poco vista dal vivo... spettacolare!!

incorrigibleirises Says:

Nov 4, 2009 - O.O wow

the2nddarklord Says:

Nov 4, 2009 - Absolutely brilliant! Daniel Barenboim is awesome.

smileydude62 Says:

Nov 5, 2009 - not one of the easier pieces i've ever played, the 16th note runs are killer on the euphonium

theoldironcollector Says:

Nov 7, 2009 - @smileydude62 tell me about it!! the weird thing is it has a 1st and a 2nd baritone part also

jordanb2432 Says:

Nov 7, 2009 - I would not include the part about du Pre. While it is cool to know that they were married he did have an extramarital affair while Du Pre was stricken with multiple sclerosis

zachindie Says:

Nov 14, 2009 - There is no argument: this is the best recording of the 4th.

SpaghettiDjango Says:

Nov 17, 2009 - That tuba is a beast!

luke5d Says:

Nov 18, 2009 - ... du Pre had an extramarital affair with her sisters husband before Barenboim left her and shacked up with the Russian. While none of it is very pleasant, you can hardly blame Barenboim.

Sonnedude Says:

Nov 18, 2009 - FUCKING EPIC!!!!!

jordanb2432 Says:

Nov 18, 2009 - touche sir I forgot about that part in the story. Well I guess we can say neither is quite perfect then haha

cledi1234 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - this is so amazing. my school band played this song and it was really hard for the clarinets!

superstr87 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - medpiano, Is it conducted by Barenbaum? or Barenboim?

tubonianflute Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - :) Dangeroooouuuusssss! I like!
