Jaggabone Says:

Oct 22, 2009 - You fail to realize that it was a strategic move by Gates. Apple has HUGE amounts of valuable patents. Also note at the time Microsoft was NOT well loved in the USA facing up to 15 US State lawsuits of injunction or something of the like. They already lost a LOT of revenue during the 2yr period before Gates made this announcement. Within a matter of weeks all cases save for 1 was dropped; recall the Monopoly of Microsoft during that time?! Google search it and you'll realize.

Jaggabone Says:

Oct 22, 2009 - Very interesting. Add to that the vast amounts of money for research that Gates has ... and we'd find MANY cures! Gates is a greedy bastard, but his efforts for philanthropic (maybe his saving his own sole) is unparalleled; if only by his wife.

arf900 Says:

Oct 24, 2009 - funny how back then MS and apple got along, now MS copies the crap out of apple and apple calls MS fat on TV

peaceinside25 Says:

Oct 25, 2009 - all of them were visionaries, gifted minds

peaceinside25 Says:

Oct 27, 2009 - my guess is that Gates made a lot of money and now feels that he wants to help those in need. Afterall his money amount is obscene , it is nothing for him to help the world. didn't he team up with another rich fella from mexico? Also keep in mind the reputation factor

Oct 31, 2009 - I hope that Apple gets close to the brink of failure again and will finally lower the prices of their Macs so normal people can switch. That will make Apple see that their notebooks, the Mac os could be as successful as the Ipod and Itunes. Windows is only #1 because they're the cheapest. Apple needs to make a budget notebook and see how many people will switch.

ComradeSlice Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - ... Windows is not a piece of hardware. The price of macs is centered in the hardware. Mac book pros are NOT made of cheap flimsy plastic with annoying labels and just bulky designs. Macs make designer computers, and if you just want the OS, use the Rebel EFI. It will let you install Mac OS X on any x86_64 machine with little to no knowledge (like you).

DeltaPhi79 Says:

Nov 3, 2009 - And when people think of a Mac they say Macs. Forgetting that it refers to the hardware which currently runs Windows too. Don't you wish they would use their head and realize it's *MAC OS X* that they hate and not Macs?

Lumotaku Says:

Nov 5, 2009 - well if its just the mac hardware than what is that ridculousy overpriced pc hardware.

DeltaPhi79 Says:

Nov 5, 2009 - You're paying for the aluminum, glass, and plastic casing which sucks up some heat to keep it from overheating, makes it light, and the large screens with LEDs (at least with the iMacs of October.). Mac Pro? All the stuff in it and the all aluminum case. MacBook Pro? Unibody aluminum, screen size and LED, SD card slot, and Lithium-Polymer battery. MacBook? Durable polycarbonate and Lithium-Polymer battery. It's not only hardware. It's what makes it lat longer, and what makes it more durable.

Nov 5, 2009 - Many many thanks for sharing this video.

Lumotaku Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - If i wanted to pay for a heavy duty laptop i would buy a toughbook.

DeltaPhi79 Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - And how long do the batteries last, how good are the processors, and THE WEIGHT?

moveaxebx Says:

Nov 7, 2009 - .....and then the Linux showed up....

Lumotaku Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - Well the processors are the same or better since mac had to admit INtel processors were better.

DeltaPhi79 Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - Yeah in *2006*. Before that, the PowerPC was outperforming Intel processors. 2005 - 2006? PowerPC fell behind, so they switched to Intel, and now they still keep up with or pass other competitors.

RaVeN19Dizzle Says:

Nov 9, 2009 - I can't wait for another known OEM to make a Linux based OS and ship their PC's with that. Like apple did with OSX, which is purely based off the BSD kernel.

Lumotaku Says:

Nov 11, 2009 - wrong it was way before powerpc hasnt been able to keep up since the penitum 3 it became a battle between amd and intel and motorola became unimportant.

ComradeSlice Says:

Nov 14, 2009 - ... Mac OS X has exponential market share over linux.

moveaxebx Says:

Nov 14, 2009 - Yeah...that could be the truth. But not necessary. What market are we talking about? Server or desktop? I believe that Linux has far more Desktop users then it's actually being reported. And it's still growing. Macs are pretty popular in US, but here in EU...I actually never met anyone who has one. PCs rule desktop market, and Windows as an operating system...with more and more Linux users. We'll see how things will develop.

RagtimeFoxy Says:

Nov 15, 2009 - I'm a PC user myself, and agree that majority of people (even over here in the U.S.) use PCs and run Windows, but I wouldn't mind having a Mac, and I think I may even want to be loyal to Apple now. Because what do you think? Is it true that Bill Gates stole the windowing system from Apple when Apple had the Lisa? I'm not sure, but it IS pretty difficult to defend Microsoft on that aspect...and Gates DID lie about other things to get where he is today...I don't know.

chivasgeek741 Says:

nicolunacba Says:

Nov 17, 2009 - oh! shit! TRUE!

hubtech Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - Bill Gates , BIG BROTHER, i was waiting for the female runner to come running in and blast that screen with her hammer

sajid1979 Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - If it wasn't for apple os, don't think ms would be big wth their windows os, ms had copied apple's idea. I think gates owe apple big time, but bringing these to gaints together creating a monopoloy is not good for consumers.
