today friday 18.04.08 it was great to witness the regeneration that is continuing to come to the river cart,the bascule bridge in renfrewshire was raised and lowered twice today which is a very rare sight the bridge it's self was built in 1923 and is one of the last two remaining draw style bridges in the uk,it was raised to allow a tug through first of all then lowered then at 10am this morning it was raised again to allow the tug to transport a hugh barge (60m x 24m and weighing about 500 tonnes) containing a cable laying carousel which had just ben built at the steel engineering ltd in porterfield road renfrew had was heading to it's first job at rotterdam to lay undersea cables for the re-newable energy industry it's first job being to lay cables for wind farms BON VOYAGE
