Nov 14, 2009 - VornaValley - I am not a smoker, this is deplorable ---HOWEVER, I take issue with your absent-minded comment. I challenge you to watch kids shows today and see all the junk food, junk drinks (including "energy boosters"), etc. It's not only NOT unthinkable, it goes on daily and clearly well-meaning people like yourself are blind to it. They are CRAFTY on Madison Avenue!

CantBuyMeLuve Says:

Nov 14, 2009 - omg this is crazy lol

huysmanslabas Says:

Nov 14, 2009 - These cigarettes would be followed by a trip to the local bar for Fred and Barney, where they would polish off a shit-load of beer and then drive drunk, slowly proceeding home to their cold, shitty stone dumps. Betty and Wilma would quickly be given black eyes because a dinner of some kind of fucking dinosaur was not ready. Then the men would stumble off to bed, falling asleep in their clothes....it was the 1950's after all!

Kev95682 Says:

Nov 14, 2009 - This makes me want to start smoking!

vornavalley Says:

Nov 15, 2009 - My comment was specfic to cigarettes in the cartoon. I actually think that junk food and food additives are more dangerous than cigarettes because of the repeated exposure - 5 or 6 times a day. Nutrition takes second place to taste and sugar is put in hamburger buns, in hamburger patties and in almost everything to improve taste.

Nov 15, 2009 - I love it cuz they are so plumb tuckerd out by watching thier gals do the work. "Hey Barny lets go behind the house and fire up this Splif whilst our ladys do the work I'm sooo tired watching the sweat ." LOL

alieC101 Says:

Nov 16, 2009 - Barney how could you!

shinoismine Says:

Nov 16, 2009 - Well back then cigarettes werent seen as bad in any way, so I suppose there isnt anything wrong with this.

ColdburnOnline Says:

Nov 17, 2009 - Bear in mind that this wasn't considered a children's cartoon necessarily. In the early days this was considered entertainment for adults as well, similar to Walt Disney's political satires of Nazi Germany for example.

vornavalley Says:

Nov 17, 2009 - Did'nt know that - must admit I did'nt mind keeping my kids company when they would watch the cartoon. Thanks VV

pwnurnoobazz Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - I guess that if my heroes Fred and Barney smoke, I should too to be kool like them

Nov 20, 2009 - I want a cigarette now

WilliamBatley Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - Actually, Coldburnonline. The Flintstones was most definitely a children's cartoon. It's just the world was a lot less pussified regarding things like this and didn't use everything as a scapegoat instead of just blaming bad parenting.

ricopedrajrs Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - What's the dif with all the hollywood actors smoking now? I make movies, but I don't hire smokers! End of story!

poypasdj Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - I wasn't aware cavemen knew how to smoke

Luigi84289 Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - people have been smoking since the beginning of time. What they smoke has been ever changing. But yeah their weren't any cavemen smoking winston cigarettes 10,000 years ago.

huysmanslabas Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - I think this ad implies on a VERY SUBTLE level that smoking makes Fred and Barney swingers....hence, they swap wives with eachother...

mwheeling7 Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - i live in the town where winstion cigarettes were born Winstion-Salem

childrenofthegrave1 Says:

Nov 23, 2009 - For kids you know?

smautomat Says:

stoningtonj Says:
