Sep 14, 2009 - Wonderful video... however... food coloring is very hard on the kidneys of hummingbirds. Clear sugar water is best. A cup of sugar thoroughly dissolved in four cups of water. Skip the color, the birds will find the feeder without it.

Sep 27, 2009 - The stuff I buy is sucrose w/ color already added. Its called red dye #40, says its been approved for human pet consumption by the FDC. In fact, I've never seen plain or uncolored stuff being sold where I shop. My stuff also has extra calcium vitamin D in it for better egg shells. What's your thoughts?
