It's not the instruments that make the music good or bad, its the lyrics. And if you listen to the lyrics of his songs he says things like "I was made to love, and be loved by you.." and "God is gonna answer your prayer tonight..." Now, you dont have to like his music, but to me there is no right to think it's evil....

It's God's place to judge someone's heart and sin. Nov 17, 2009 - guys it's music. Not everything in life has a deep diabolic goal to corrupt the world. So what if something once was "bad", it's what it is now. Ex: the cross made ppl think of a horrific death, now it makes us think of the sacrifice jesus made. so who cares ^.^ enjoy the music

Nov 18, 2009 - Your argument is too legalistic! Just as the Pharasee's in Jesus' day. All things were created by God, including "beat" music. Yes, Satan has used some to distort, but hey, that's what he does. The Bible repeatedly talks about people using instruments to praise the Lord. Do you think when David stripped and danced before the arch that it was a "mellow" song he danced to. His dance was so "wild", even his wife accused him of being drunk. I praise God that there's music out there like Toby's!

Nov 18, 2009 - If my comment comes up twice i'm sorry but Youtube isn't working right... It is my belief that there is no music that is inately evil. One example is that many Christian hymns are based off secular songs and bar songs. the reason was so the common people could sing praises and not have to learn a new melody. It was a way of outreach. The same way Tobymac and other artist are reaching out to young people. using the music they know and like and showing them God through their own style of music

Jesus was a 'radical' for doing things that looked wrong to religious leaders (hanging out with sinners, doing things on the Sabbath, etc.) and the 'religious' are attacking people in the same way today. So what if this isn't a hymn? Some songs sing about God, others sing to God and others are about how he makes us feel.
