What I find odd is that the labels usually applied are: Liberal/Conservative and Democrat/Republican That they're placing Conservative with Democrat is interesting because doing so illustrates an acknowledgement that both "Democrat" and "Republican" labels have negative connotations. They're attempting to replace the negative label "Republican" with "Conservative." I don't really mind, but it does say something about media tactics and communicates an agenda.

I understand the idea behind it (especially if the candidate is really a Conservative rather than one of the neo-cons we've been spoon fed over the years), but saying a Democrat is being pitted against a Conservative shows an intent to influence perceptions. That's what the media does I suppose...
