Nov 19, 2009 - This is very confusing how are we looking backwards in time via telescope when that moment will be experienced some time in the future. Sounds like we're going forward in time.
willieofroanoke Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - The ENTIRE video is mindless babble using extended subterfuge to try to distort reality. The 1st contention claims a point resides in a single dimension. Well duh... that's false as your real world life experience confirms. No matter how much double talk you hear EVERYTHING in this reality resides in three dimensions. No matter how small something is it still has length, width and height. Trying to argue it doesn't, is stupidity on a grand scale. This is true on the cosmic scale and sub atomic.
10thdim Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - When the narration says "we start with a point that has no size, no dimension", what gives you the idea that's saying it resides in a single dimension?? You should do some reading on electrons, which are considered to be point-like particles with no size and no dimension. And yet electrons are very much part of our reality. Or go to wikipedia and look up point particles, here's a quote: "Its defining feature is that it lacks spatial extension: being zero-dimensional, it does not take up space."
willieofroanoke Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - The narration said what it says "no size, no dimension". That of course is not possible in the real world. If you want to imagine FANTASY worlds, that's another story. Particle physics THEORIZES things such as quarks are elementary particles or something so small they can't be further sub-divided. However "science" once claimed the same of atoms. So today's fantasy is some things exist, but are so small they lack dimension, yet are the component parts of larger things, that have dimensions.
willieofroanoke Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Cont 1 You'll excuse me if I chuckle at such strained logic. If sub particles such as quarks and other elementary particles don't occupy any spatial space where then do they exist? Like is there a jar of quarks, hadrons leptons on a shelf somewhere? No? Odd, you defend something that has no physical substance, occupies no dimension, can't be seen, heard, touched, etc.. yet you claim it is very real yet I bet you would from the roof tops sceam God can't exist for the same reasons.
10thdim Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Since you appear to not be looking at any of the links I'm providing you, you are rapidly losing credibility here. It is the accepted scientific definition of an electron that is has no size and no dimension. And regarding God, I would recommend you watch God or the Multiverse watch?v=IJ1fwxqqLQI or God 2.0 watch?v=V-Y4xseftgQ but of course it's up to you if you want to actually participate in a dialogue or not. Rob
willieofroanoke Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - LOL! If I'm losing credibility with assorted crackpots that spew bullshit, fine. Your videos, ALL OF THEM are absurd in the extreme. Let me guess... you're a typical atheist asshole.
7omnia7 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Does energy have 3 dimensions? No. Yet it has properties. It has been demonstrated (in a pratical way) that matter and energy are interchangable.
10thdim Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Again, since you haven't looked at the links I gave you you don't know what I think, do you?
willieofroanoke Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Where do you get batteries for that crystal ball you must peer into to claim you KNOW I haven't looked the links you offered? You claim to know what I do. Priceless. I did look and judged them for what they are.
willieofroanoke Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - You claim a lot of stuff. Links to holographic universe, A sharman, quantum universe, non local universe, ten dimensions and so on. If you want to babble about science ficiton, or fringe science that most laugh at preface it accordingly. Otherwise you sound like somebody that's been sitting out in the sun too long and forget his tin foil hat.
10thdim Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Since I talk about atheism and belief in God in the links I gave you it seems reasonable to presume you haven't looked at them.
10thdim Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Good for you, you can actually quote the titles of some of my video blogs.. Now try watching one.
quuaa1 Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - I wouldn't bother arguing with a troll, trying to convince them they're wrong is pointless, I'd ignore it.
Colton5 Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - here's another thing you can query about. If you think this man and his videos are ishkabibble then why even protest against it. Wouldn't it be more stable for you to image that these videos don't exist, since you obviously don't believe anything he says. What is your profession and expertise, if i be some open minded to ask.
YamiPoyo Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - It makes sense to treat time as a dimension and ill agree with you on that one. However if your going to feed the trolls your going to lose credibility.
jonmaguire Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - To all you people talking shit about this video, two words: "Five stars" Great video.
latenightcreep18 Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - this is mind bottling
chillli0000man Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - I've always thought of the fourth dimension to be mass and the fifth would be time. Since it is possible for a 1 and 2 dimensional object to achieve time by moving from one point to another on a line on a plane.
martin7475 Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - referind to the second dimension how can something exist if it has no height
10thdim Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - I think you could ask the same thing about the third dimension. How can something exist if it has no duration? Yes, we're 3D creatures, but without a way to change from state to state we would cease to exist. Because we're right in the middle of this process, it's hard for us to remember that we don't really exist in space, but rather in space-time.
martin7475 Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - i see but would that mean that 2d 'creatures' do actually have height like 3d creatures but can only see in 2d. because there is duration but we only exist at one part of it (in 3d) right?
10thdim Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - Our 2D creatures are a thought experiment, so by their definition they have no height. They would be the 2D version of a cartoon flipbook, and any organized pattern that existed in one 2D flipbook page and the next would start to have a duration. Same with us - our reality is not continuous, it's one 3D flipbook page after another, and those pages are each one planck unit apart.
