Nov 18, 2009 - Around 2000 dollars. There's really no need for one though anymore. Unless you are REALLY uptight about wanting analogue only sounds. However the 808 and 909 have been emulated very well (and even better IMO) by companies, and most songs now-adays rely on samples that are compressed and processed to make the originals sound even more present. But if you're a purist then go for it.
