Oct 16, 2009 - I know, isn't it? Recently I've found myself watching a lot of old American 1950's retro videos. I find it funny that in the time period this UK sketch is satirizing (40's/50's I assume), both speakers of American English and, well, English English... :-) both seem to emphasize the "h" in words like "why", "what", "where", etc. Even other aspects of the 50's-ish American and English accents sound quite similar to me. I just think it's neat. Maybe I'll look up some genuine UK retro videos. :-)
