grenadier33 Says:

Jun 30, 2009 - That's not a war on work, that's capitalism. Start your own business, compete with the shoddy workmanship of your former employer's new workers. (no this post isn't meant to sound sarcastic... I wish you the best of luck in employment)

Smalley123 Says:

Jul 4, 2009 - what he says is kinda true, my grampa has farmed and fished his whole life in the bahamas and is the happeist person i know, But me and all his grand children are misserible with are white collars jobs. Its just sad that we have so much more then allot of people and are so depressed

Jul 26, 2009 - I think 80% of TEDtalks speakers can change the world in so many ways the world can imagine. I would definitely vote for them if they ran for president.

a11acce55 Says:

Aug 3, 2009 - If you don't do that kind of work for a living on a daily, piece-by-piece basis, how many ideas do you think you have utterly wrong about doing the work, and how are gov't types who have never done the work and so don't have the nuances of practical knowledge that comes from the scene, farking up things big time for them. And we wonder why r bridges are falling apart.

Lokey76 Says:

Aug 4, 2009 - Mike Rowe for President!!!

DogNights Says:

Aug 10, 2009 - I totally agree, but finding someone to effectively impliment those plans in new and innovative ways could prove to be more difficult than actually finding someone willing to take command as president of the united states And to those who are, godspeed.

TheAmefist Says:

Aug 10, 2009 - I definitely agree; good fortune to you all, as well.

CearaQC Says:

Aug 20, 2009 - He's right... not enough trade skills, and there will always be a need for hands-on work. They are declining because there was a HUGE push to teach students just enough so they would be trained for academia. Now too many people are graduating college and university with worthless degrees and jobs are almost impossible to find.

kantimmanuel05 Says:

Aug 23, 2009 - this guy would be a good marxist

fuerstjd Says:

Aug 29, 2009 - No, we devalued skilled labor. Where i grew up it was great o major in philosophy at some Ivy Leage and never do anything with your life, but a shame if you went to a trade school and got a degree in welding or something despite the very good job security and dencent wage. We need to elivate the idea of trade school to that of skilled labor that smart kids should want to do instead of being a blue collar joke.

Bly86 Says:

Sep 23, 2009 - this guy is a true intelectual , he should of had some kind of PHD , i'm glad he enjoys what he does but i'm sorry he doesn't have a job where he can influence our society more , maybe then humanity will discover progress again, too bad there aren't many people like him in the world

Hunteress90 Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - This speech is one of the best Ive ever heard. It really makes you think about whats important. Like how people who don't want the dirty jobs, try to succeed in Academia and then fail because there are not a lot of those specific kind of jobs out there. But people who do have dirty jobs are content with their lives because they are making a living and there sticking with it and their happy doing it. Theyre confident in what they do. Most people who get degrees arent, with some exceptions.

Hunteress90 Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - Its plain amazing. We really are waging a war on the working classes in the U.S. We just dont want to realize it. We all want white-collar great paying jobs, but we should all know that American Dream is too surreal to accomplish. We really have to work for our passions, and mold it into what we want. Dont let people mold it for us. This comes down to the laziness of America. *shrugs*

Hunteress90 Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - We want people to do is for us. Because we've already had many things accomplished for us and we basically have sacrificed a couple bucks in our pockets to aquire them, not our reputations. Thats for the inventor to risk.

Hunteress90 Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - America has this mind set where we have to have it done for us. Like a great job, people have connections, therefore the easy way out. No one really works for their passions anymore caz their brainwashed into thinking that why work for their passions when something else can be given to them and it can be just as good, only its not aquired by the heart, its aquired by the social status and power connections of America's industries.

aaliyahraks Says:

Nov 15, 2009 - He is a very good speaker and what he said is absolutely true
