Sep 3, 2009 - Correct me if I am Wrong (politely Please, no reason to be uncivilized) But Are you Saying that Everything in this world should be made free to everybody and no one would make a profit on anything. Isn't that Marxism or Communism

thefestizio Says:

Sep 4, 2009 - I'm sure he's just saying that it'd be better, which on paper it is. I mean come on, can you imagine the brochures for Communism? "Everyone works the same, you all make the same and you're all well provided for! No more class struggle! Communities working together for the common goal!" Of course it didn't work out like that. Haha. Regardless, to get back on subject Capitalism=/= Communism. Even though the ideas may be similar, they are not.

Sep 12, 2009 - People ain't perfect so do political systems. Thats why no matter what will you say it will never change anything if people don't want to change themselves first. And getting back to my point- I found Decemberists totally randomly and I absolutely love them since that day xD There is SOMETHING in their music which makes me calm and happy

andrew49247 Says:

Sep 19, 2009 - firstly, why capitalize random words? Sorry, I had to mention it. If everything was free there would be no need for profits now, would there? If you just thought about your question from outside of your insular political / cultural shell you would realize how obvious the answer is.

ImTestingSleeping Says:

Oct 20, 2009 - If everything was free then certain people WOULD have to work harder than others while receiving the SAME compensation as others. That's exactly why it never works. People won't work harder than someone else and receive the same payment. People in more technical job positions need more job training (and education) in order to meet the requirements of the job. It costs money to get yourself properly educated and you expect to receive proper payment in return for your efforts.

andrew49247 Says:

Oct 20, 2009 - No clue what you're trying to say with the first paragraph, could you rephrase that (and state what it's a response to)? I guess if you view education as an investment and a mean to get a better job then yea, sure, that makes sense. I just think that's utter bullshit though, and could only be an opinion held by somebody who knows nothing of education.

ImTestingSleeping Says:

Oct 20, 2009 - Every throws that same line out whenever people start arguing/debating on a YouTube music video. Just because people are arguing/debating doesn't mean they are not relaxed. Also, if it bothers you for some reason that people are arguing/debating about religion on a YouTube music video, then you need to relax about it and just ignore the comments that bother you. There is nothing wrong with people voicing their opinions, even if that opinion isn't directly related to the video. Thanks.

ShahidMiller Says:

Nov 11, 2009 - There's a lot of confusion in discussing so called "socialism" due to the fact that so many iterations of this idea exist. Interestingly the U.S., which has probably the lowest level of "socialism", also has among the lowest social mobility of any highly developed nation. People tend to live and die in the same social bracket they were born into. It is debatable, then, just how well the ideal of "working to get ahead" is realized.

ShahidMiller Says:

Nov 11, 2009 - On the other hand, the highest social mobility belongs to the Northern European countries and their famous, seemingly cultural, leanings toward "socialism" ... But perhaps you mean "communism" -- and strict equality of outcome? Well the old Communist states tended to solve the free rider problem with authoritarian "insistence", as in "we insist you work" -- or else. Good old fashioned pride and prestige helps too -- the Soviet Union had no shortage of doctors or engineers, actually.
