Nov 9, 2009 - He doesn't deserve punishment for being gay. He doesn't even deserve punishment for pushing his toxic crap. But for being a fucking hypocrite, he deserves everything he gets. Don't forget he also railed against drugs, then snorted crystal meth with his gay hooker.
ichimonji1988 Says:
Nov 10, 2009 - Really, I think the "toxic crap" you mentioned is the bad bit.

Nov 13, 2009 - Amazing. Haggard deserves everything he gets.
bdf2718 Says:
Nov 13, 2009 - Ted Haggard would say that your atheism is "toxic crap." Freedom of Speech, freedom of opinion, freedom of religion and all that. I think his toxic crap really is toxic crap, but the price I pay for being allowed to say what he thinks is toxic crap is for him to have the same privilege. That's why I don't think he deserves punishing for it, however toxic it may actually be. But his hypocrisy does merit punishment.
ichimonji1988 Says:
Nov 13, 2009 - @bdf2718 Really? the degree of toxicity doesn't matter? Could the same be said of people who endorse more evidently reprehensible ideas such as violence? I will never say that Ted Haggard must forfeight the right to say that what others believe is rubbish. However, I leave it to logic and an honest appraisal of the world we live in to indicate whose opinion is more deserving of the label.
bdf2718 Says:
Nov 14, 2009 - The degree of toxicity matters. But... there is this little thing called "freedom of speech." To sum up the many ways Noam Chomsky has expressed the sentiment: unless you believe in freedom of speech for those you despise, you don't really believe in freedom of speech at all. The phrase attributed to Voltaire by Tallentry in "Friends of Voltaire" is "I disagree with what you say but defend your right to say it." It's toxic, but it's not shouting "fire" in a crowded theatre.

Nov 16, 2009 - Anyone else find it amusing that Jesus said a whole lot more about hypocrites than he ever did about ...well, a combination of EVERYTHING else? No wonder the religious leadership at the time wanted him nailed to a tree!
bdf2718 Says:
Nov 16, 2009 - You've bought into the lies cooked up at the Council of Nicea. Crucifixion was a Roman punishment and Jesus was a rebel leader (Life of Brian was a lot closer than the Catholic church wants to admit). But when you have the Emperor Constantine adopting your religion it pays not to say bad things about the Romans. Google for Hyam Maccoby Jesus Jewish Resistance - you'll find at least 2 abridged copies of his book.

Nov 21, 2009 - Lol. I'm not Christian but I agree that homosexuality is an abomination... Ted's a bit of a hypocrite.
Demonwulf Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - So everyone should be free from criticism and mockery, or parody, or satire? Are you sure Voltaire was for that? Have you even read half of his plays, such as "Mahomet"? :)
wolfkidex Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - why if I may ask? I'm not gonna try and change your mind, since every one has their own opinion, I'm just curious because I usually have only heard religious reasons for being against it.
ryansmog Says:
Nov 24, 2009 - this is stupid
qqqqqqqq Says:
Nov 24, 2009 - Well, basically I deem homosexual acts to be against the order of nature. Now as enlightened, rational modern-day atheists, I don't think we unequivocally accept the Russian's statement that "without God, everything is permissible". There are still underlying norms of society which are reinforced by nature's blind way. Of course people argue society has its values, but biology shows man and woman to be complementary. For that which breaches this norm and is futile to change, cannot be right.
qqqqqqqq Says:
Nov 24, 2009 - Wow 8 thumbs down for stating that as an atheist and rational thinker, I deem homosexual acts to be an abomination to human kind! Some fags on here are obviously sensitive. But seriously, you disgust me and my sense of Godless morality more than a murderer or rapist. At least they know their acts are repugnant, you commit your acts of disgust in the glory of pride. You fags make me sick. I hope one day a secular government will put you all to death, we're not far off. ;-)
8DX Says:
Nov 24, 2009 - That's not fair.. even if you think they are "an abomination to human kind!", saying they should be put to death owes you at LEAST 8 thumbs DOWN.. various orifices! I don't like gay sex either. Haven't tried it but it "aint natural" - reproductive organs are for having babies - sexy fun is a byproduct. But then as long as gays don't ask me to participate in their "play", they can do what they want.
8DX Says:
Nov 24, 2009 - Sorry I can't thumb you up. Strange those gay youtube commenters thumbing you down.. I would think they might turn that thumb UP.
