Mar 23, 2009 - Dr. Angelou's use of metaphor and prose in her poetry is magical. A rock's description of man: "mouths spilling words armed for slaughter." Truly an epic moment in poetry. If only we could "study war no more", future generations would regard us with awe and love rather than contempt and loathing. Thank you Dr. Angelou. You are truly an inspiration to us all.

May 2, 2009 - Have always loved Dr. Maya Angelou. Have most of her books and poems Including the inauguration poem. The negative comments posted here aren't worth responding to. Worhtless people who have amounted to nothing in their own lives who want to tear down a woman who has acheived greatness in her own life with her talents and through what she has overcome who is respected worldwide. I don't think she'd pay much attention to the ludicrous comments about her from these fools on here.

May 29, 2009 - In all fairness, though, you can't really compete with Maya Angelou. She's one of the best out there. A brilliant writer, poet, and speaker. In my opinion, there aren't many who can measure up. This particular speech was very moving. Elizabeth Alexanders poem was really boring, though, on any level hehe

Jun 14, 2009 - The rock is Jesus Christ. We are created a little lower than the angels and have much more responsibility as humans. I'd like to think the River is the Father and the Tree is the Spirit. She demonstrates a deeply profound understanding of Christian Love. The theme is "it's a new day". Go and sin no more. She's fantastic in her values, morals and belief structure.
