Oct 5, 2009 - I`m a bluesman myself, but I lke to hear latin music, Santana especially. In Croatia we have a great band called Cubismo and a great mariachi band Los Caballeros, not so typical for south-eastern Europ :D
cristoinhumano Says:
Oct 6, 2009 - The name of the song is "Oye Como Va", and the band playing it, i am not really sure who it is, i know a version by Santana.

Oct 15, 2009 - that was daddy yankee on 0:20...and that song "oye como va" its originally recorded by the Fania All Stars , the best salsa orchestra ever...
eixiel1 Says:
Oct 15, 2009 - oye como va..... Fania all stars Puerto Rico!!!!
cerv7 Says:
Oct 15, 2009 - EXCELLENT documentry!!! My only complaint is that is forgets the tango craze of the early 20th Century and ignores the urban U.S. Latino genre of FREESTYLE which was popular with Latino youth during the 80s and 90s. Stars like Johnny O, Geroge Lamond, Judy Torres, Cynthia, TKA, etc. gave us countless electro-pop "heartthrob" melodies that continue to be listened to by the younger Hispanic generations to this day... Still a great documentry though...
blu2unes Says:
Oct 17, 2009 - That song is called "Gasolina" and it blows
ceviche666 Says:
Oct 18, 2009 - 'Oye Como Va' written and composed by Tito Puente (1963), popularized by Santana in 1970 on the 'Abraxas' album...which is an incredible album in its' own right.

Oct 19, 2009 - Saw this last night...LOVED the part about "The Fania All-Stars".

ultimatechorus Says:
Oct 20, 2009 - I saw both episodes, really enjoyed it. Cerv7 is right, they ignored Freestyle. However, I was shock that they admitted that the Reggaeton beat came from a song called "Dem Bow" by a Jamaican artist known as Shabba Rank's and that Panamanians were doing Reggaeton before Puerto Ricans. About time the truth comes out.
theRoyal1 Says:
Oct 24, 2009 - actually, 'Oye como va' is a Tito Puente song from before Fania.....
LatinosarenotaRace Says:
Oct 24, 2009 - Thanks for pointing out that latin music is not all the same so why must we keep calling all music just latin it is obvious most latin music is invented by black folks just like rock n roll RB but we don't try to hide those facts , no body calls RB music Country music Heavy Metal music Reggae Music all one generic genre and call it anglo saxon music or germanic music.....
nanyt05 Says:
Oct 25, 2009 - Wow I can't believe they didn't even mention Merengue or Bachata. Those are two very important music genre in Latin music. But apparently Dominicans don't count for nothing in this country for other then Baseball. How disappointing!
cimanyd Says:
Oct 27, 2009 - Anyone know what's the song @ 1:21-1:25?

Nov 13, 2009 - They missed s much, I mean they only put the tigres del norte and old norteñas as the regional mexican music, i mean of course mariachi thats an ovbious, but what about the modern type of regional mexican music that is out there, DURANGUENSE is also popular now, not only reggeaton, and aventura bachata, and marc anthony merengue, the mexican culture is more than mariachi, tigres del norte, los lobos, and Goerge Lopez!!!! (NOTE i enjoy all types of latino music that includes the caribe music)
