Oct 25, 2009 - Actually, Kaga Takeshi is his birth name. I also still prefer the original program.
ThInTrM Says:
Oct 25, 2009 - sffilk: Actually, his real name is Shigekatsu Katsuda. Wikipedia, IMDB, and NNDB all state this.
sffilk Says:
Oct 25, 2009 - When I checked wiki and imdb, they said his real name was Kaga Takeshi. Sounds like we're getting conflicting sources.
ThInTrM Says:
Oct 25, 2009 - sffilk: You're probably assuming that just because an article uses his stage name for the title that it's his real name. Sounds like you're misinterpreting your own sources. Wikipedia's article on Takeshi Kaga says: "His real name is Shigekatsu Katsuda (勝田 薫且 Katsuda Shigekatsu)." IMDB's Biography on Takeshi Kaga says: "Birth Name Shigekatsu Katsuda"

Oct 26, 2009 - I always love the moment when they reveal the food...and close-up on the chefs' expressions + the dramatic music. LOL
sffilk Says:
Oct 28, 2009 - It appears there may be 2 articles. The one I checked doesn't mention this other name.

Oct 31, 2009 - hahaha.. yea and when he takes a bite of the capsicum... LOL... gotta love it!!

Nov 1, 2009 - you can't make a cooking show more dramatic than this
Renaki0586 Says:
Nov 11, 2009 - This version of Iron Chef is WAY better than the crappy American version .;
GaySingleMulatto Says:
Nov 11, 2009 - This is so incredibly corny. It's like a parody.
TheGadgetable Says:
Nov 12, 2009 - ha ha I am so addicted to any version of Iron Chef. It is wacky and dramatic. Makes me wonder so much about great food.
ThInTrM Says:
Nov 14, 2009 - Renaki0586, I'm going to repeat something mindtraveler2350 posted a long time ago: Whine whine whine! You people just don't shut up about Iron Chef America! You should be commenting on the Iron Chef Japan episode and this video, NOT the same "I hate ICA" bullshit that so many others of your predecessors have! ICJ stopped filming long ago, so it's natural that Food Network would try to emulate a good thing and make an American sequel when they ran out of ICJ episodes to air! Jeez!
ThInTrM Says:
Nov 14, 2009 - GaySingleMulatto: Over-the-top drama is what makes Iron Chef so fun, though!
MTERM775 Says:
Nov 16, 2009 - The music, the camera angles.... Damm its so epic!
Stevek1m23 Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - Iron Chef is the reason why I am now interested in cooking and this was only show all 4 of our family can watch together. As much as I love to watch Iron Chef, I am not fan of American version and will never watch it.
herbfletcher Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - The American Iron Chef is pathetic. Check this out, see the pagentry, the honor, the drama. Ages above.
herbfletcher Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - and the dude that runs the show is just nuts. Who goes around wearing a cape nowadays?
sweetdenni Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - I enjoy both ICJ and ICA....I just got though watching the Next Iron Chef just a while ago... The ONLY thing I don't like about ICA is that it's not as dramatic as ICJ and Bobby Flay always wins...boo. It's like he lives and sleeps in Kitchen Stadium 'cause he wins so much...blah.
housophisticated Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - i love how he cant take the taste of raw capsicum aghha
HooshIsASoup Says:
Nov 23, 2009 - Man, will you guys stop bashing Iron Chef America? I swear, every time I see someone like YOU post a comment, herbfletcher, it makes me want to avoid watching the original Iron Chef that much more.
microflex22 Says:
Nov 23, 2009 - I agree, I love Iron Chef America. But I still love the original too.
HooshIsASoup Says:
Nov 24, 2009 - Wait, what's this about Bobby Flay winning all the time on ICA? He only wins like two-thirds of the time. He just gets picked too much ... he's fought something like 40 matches. Now, Mario Batali and Michael Symon, they're the ones who almost always win. Both of them win like 80% of the matches they fight. I wish we could see more of Morimoto on ICA. More challengers need to pick him! Not Flay!
sweetdenni Says:
Nov 24, 2009 - I would like more of Morimoto, too But if chefs know they have more of a chance of winning by picking Flay, then means we are going to be bombarded with seeing him in every episode.... When I saw that Batali and Emeril were going against Flay and the White House head chef, at first I wasn't going to watch it, but I think I will because I want to see Flay get his butt kicked by Emeril...LOL!! (I hope)
sweetdenni Says:
Nov 25, 2009 - I forgot to add BAMM!! to my comment...lol. When talking about Emeril you must always add BAMM!!

ThInTrM Says:
Oct 25, 2009 - sffilk: Takeshi Kaga is also an actor--heck, Takeshi Kaga is just his STAGE NAME. Why is it such a big deal that Mark Dacascos is one, too? Also, Dacascos isn't Greek. His mother is Irish-Japanese, and his father is Filipino.
