Oct 7, 2009 - Your professor is mistaken. The Mayan calendar ends in 2012 because it is a cyclical calender. Imagine small cycles within bigger cycles. The longest cycle is what ends in 2012. All that happens in the Mayan calendar is a restarting from the beginning.

Oct 10, 2009 - I agree with you, but even if it DID come out in 2030, it still takes a while to upgrade everything. Take digital signals for TVs, for example. They had the the technology in the late 90s, I think, but it wasn't forced as a standard (in the US, anyways) until 2009.

Nov 2, 2009 - Technology is pretty dam crazy right now, I mean a normal thing I do is ripp blu-ray to my computer copy it, and convert it to dvd files, burn it to a disk, I also usually, save it to my hard drive that I can watch off of my computer, I also convert the dvd files, into mp4, mpg, and avi, and put them on my ps3, ipod, psp, I also have 3 OS's on my computer, and linux, ubuntu on my ps3. The future is already here, you just have to learn some technical know how to take advantage of it.
