Nov 18, 2009 - Great Australian movie ahead of its time, Aussie Mel Gibson got his start in his international career here. Love how the Australians have like 20 mil population and produce such a high percentage of actors, actresses, singers and high quality products in the stores. And still they are so laid back and cool. I wanna move there and get what they got going.

Nov 20, 2009 - If you ask me, the Mad Max films are rather hard to understand, and a little weird. The Road Warrior was the best.

Nov 22, 2009 - That's the point, it is not supposed to make sense. Mad Max II was the definitive classic, Thunderdome sucked balls.
JakeMansonNYC Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - Why are shoulder pads so big in the post Apocalyptic period? Is it like we devolve into the 1982's? Or is it that American football is in fact a metaphor for nuclear war? All theories are entertained, thanks.

Nov 22, 2009 - awesome song from an awesome movie

Nov 22, 2009 - Only the 80's can kick it like this. Such a cool and unreal decade. One question: Is it true there will be another movie in the final chapter of the Mad Max series? Will "Mad Mel" be able to do Max one last time? Too complicated, or just too old?
TheBigO09 Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - it's funny you brought up shoulder pads in the post apocalyptic period. If you watched the 1985 anime, Fist of the North Star, you would see that the hero and many other characters had shoulder pads. maybe they're used for armor like knights? Or maybe its a fashion trend following a nuclear war, granted there are survivors? As for Mad Max, i think the shoulder pad is a symbol of his fall to the realm of the barbarians. He lost it in the 3rd movie, thus he regains his place in humanity.
TheBigO09 Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - Mad Max 2 is indeed a classic. However, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome is a great film too. It shows the complete evolution of Max, rather than simply painting him as a "shoot 'em up" hero.
