Mafio673 Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - you're probably right, but there is no way it's piano
Patton122145 Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - actually the biginning is part organ and drums and the song was out in the 70s not the 60s
jjojjorge Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - Just in case, I know it was released in the 70's.

Nov 19, 2009 - It's a Hammond M3 Organ through a leslie speaker cabinet played by Tom Scholz. Absolutely awesome sound! A classic for all Hammond fans!

Nov 19, 2009 - @19torento Number One it's Ozzy. It really doesn't look like him though. I highly doubt it. It might be though man I don't know! lol
jjojjorge Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - Thanks for the information, aihoschema. I went to read a little bit about the Leslie Speaker System. =)

Nov 20, 2009 - No problem. I am a musician, that's how I know. BTW the other keyboard you hear during "Foreplay" is a Clavinet (those twangy low notes. The sound FX ate NOT synthesizers. They are made by sliding the pick along the guitar strings. This has been discussed by guys who know their stuff on Forums and in the Yahoo Hammond Zone group - so I am absolutely sure of the instruments used here. No guesswork!
jjojjorge Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - Yea, I assumed there were no synthesizers played. Thanks, I just learned the clavinet is an electronic clavichord. By the way, I think the Beatles sometimes employed a clavichord. And perhaps John Lennon during his solo years. The piano is like a much improved clavichord, correct? I mean going from note to note or chord to chord is not as drastic I believe.
jjojjorge Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - I meant Harpsichord, aihoschema. I get them confused.
jjojjorge Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - And yea, a piano has a bigger range of course.

Nov 20, 2009 - Excellent sound - thank you!! Boston was one of the best. I remember when this album came out and my brother got it, I was hooked then. My youngest son (18) who is autistic loved this CD. He wore it out (it belonged to his older brother - who is still waiting for a replacement).

Nov 23, 2009 - I think this, like Journey, Foghat, or any other middle-grade classic rock band, is one of those you make fun of but listen to their songs anyway. It's all good fun.
