Oct 21, 2009 - If your hairs on the back of your neck are standing up think about this: This song is on the Voyager Golden Record, launched into space in 1977. Hundreds of Millions of years from now, maybe humanity won't exist, maybe the earth will be dust -- but this song will be forever be hurtling away from our planet in interstellar space. Just imagine if some alien civilization finds it and hears it? I get goosebumps just thinking about it! (wikipedia: Voyager Golden Record )

Oct 25, 2009 - it makes me cry...the thought that he died penniless freezing to death in a house that burnt down and yet his music will live on even after the human race is gone.there's something so terribly heart breaking and yet completely perfect encapsulated in this song and in that fact.

Oct 26, 2009 - Yeah I was saying that a while back. The West Wing did an episode where they mentioned it then they played this music over an image of a nuclear bomb being tested. That thought is pretty EPIC though. Is there anyway I can favourite this video 5 million times?

Nov 3, 2009 - There's no reason why a rich man couldn't appreciate,or even imitate this-but he sure couldn't write it.

Nov 4, 2009 - I just learned something today. I stumbled upon this looking for info related to the Voyager record. This sounds like how the old folks sing "Did Christ O'er Sinners Weep?" at my church. I thought this was how the song goes, but when I looked for youtube vids of that song I found two that do not sound at all like how they sing it at my church. Interesting. We sing it call and response; the deacon has a hymnal and the congregations just listens to what he says. Very old school black church.

Nov 16, 2009 - Hard Time Killing Floor Blues is a beautliful song
PinkOld Says:
Nov 18, 2009 - Actually, I saw that Jackass you are talking about, only recently, hoping I would see it after you originally posted your comment. It showed Johnny Knoxville getting tazed, and they were indeed playing a slide delta type of music along to the silliness. However, I can assure you that it was not this song or anything else from Blind Willie Johnson, for that matter.
Andreas0705 Says:
Nov 23, 2009 - Yeah , its kind of a cool thought that aliens might hear this - dont think willie johnson thought that this song would get into space xD
